Children of illegal immigrants deserve in-state tuition
Boston Globe ^ | November 22, 2012 | Editorial/Boston Globe

Governor Patrick’s decision this week to allow certain illegal immigrants to qualify for in-state tuition rates at state universities is an important step toward resolving ambiguities in the federal immigration rules. The state now makes clear that young undocumented immigrants who have been granted reprieves from deportation by the federal government can utilize their newly acquired work permits as proof of state residency.

The change is more than a technical clarification. The United States has succeeded as a nation of immigrants because it has, more often than not, made assimilation and integration a part of the American experience. Giving immigrants access to an affordable education, one that will help them become successful members of society, is an important part of that story.

If you notice here-Giving immigrants access to an affordable education, one that will help them become successful members of society, is an important part of that story- he refers to it as amnesty -2nd-This action does not confer citizenship, but it does allow recipients (those 30 and under who are in school or the military) to be eligible for work authorization cards. Why does this writer think illegals should have affordable education-we have enough people who do not have assess to affordable education. The majority of illegals essentially receive free college educations viva scholarships.Just because illegals have kids here illegally, America is not suppose to be the parents.

If we give the children of illegal immigrants a college education, where will our future hotel maids, busboys, dishwashers and car wash workers come from?

Why even bother with borders anymore? Why not just get rid of our borders with Canada and Mexico to become one super country and call ourselves Canusico. This is just pure madness. We’re the generation of Americans who sadly precipitated the disintegration of this great nation.

I find it amazing that anyone could think foreign invaders deserve cheaper college educations than American citizens.

The whole world wants in-state tuition:

In 1979, Deng Xiaoping [General Secretary of the Communist Party of China] arrived here on an official visit. China was emerging from the Cultural Revolution, and poised to embark on the capitalist road.

When President Carter sat down with Mr. Deng, he told him he was concerned over the right of the Chinese people to emigrate. The Jackson-Vanik amendment, Mr. Carter said, prohibited granting most favored nation trade status to regimes that did not allow their people to emigrate.

“Well, Mr. President,” Deng cheerfully replied, “Just how many Chinese do you want? Ten million. Twenty million. Thirty million?”

Deng’s answer stopped Carter cold. In a few words, the Chinese leader had driven home a point Mr. Carter seemed not to have grasped: Hundreds of millions of people would emigrate to America in an eyelash, far more than we could take in, far more than our existing population of 270 million...

Children of illegal immigrants deserve in-state tuition

Correction: Children of illegal immigrants deserve to be deported swiftly yet humanely from the United States.

It is immoral to profit from the crimes of others.

We all know that commie libs don’t like to spend THEIR OWN MONEY on their “causes” but my recommendation would be that the Boston Globe start a scholarship fund for illegal aliens. Otherwise, they should just shut the...up!

This action does not confer citizenship, but it does allow recipients (those 30 and under who are in school or the military) to be eligible for work authorization cards.

Obama's actions are illegal and impeachable. He has circumvented Congress and the Constitution.

Illegal aliens cannot join the US military. And why are those in school given preference over illegals who did not go to college but are engaged in other kinds of labor that doesn't require a college degree? Will Patrick subsidize those who enter trade schools?

It is very easy to be generous with other people's money, i.e., the taxpayers'. We have 23 million legal residents of this country looking for fulltime employment. Obama's backdoor amnesty gives work permits to 1.8 million illegals. There are already an estimated 8 million illegals holding jobs now. And now to make matters worse, Lamar Smith is supporting increasing the number of green cards for skilled workers. Is anyone concerned about the American worker?

When you reward something, you get more of it.

In these stories clearly is indicated the parents broke some laws to be able to live here. It says do not blame the kids, blame the parents, in doing this nothing ever happens to the parents, other than to say, yes they evaded law enforcement & used qustionable means to gain employment to live here.Blame the parents and the parents are never held accountable.Lot of good it does to blame parents, just empty words to make excuses for why illegals should get freebies and parents reap the rewards

“deserve”? No

What should happen, at least, is do away with out-of-state tuition as it is already waived for the many foreign students who use our colleges.

Why should we bend over and allow limitless immigration of uneducated zero skill welfare seekers while at the same forcing college educated whites and Asians to jump through years of hoops to even work here? Because they can't be reliably counted on to vote DemonRATic.

Are the children of out-of-state rapists, murders, kidnappers and other felons also deserving of getting in-state tuition too?

When the topic first percolated up and came to my attention some few decades ago, I was dumbfounded that schools were under any obligation whatsoever to provide ANY education to illegal kids. They shouldn’t be here and there parents shouldn’t be here, and they shouldn’t receive any kind of taxpayer welfare or benefits at all.

Ah, how quaint it used to be, those days of actually expecting common-sense to rule the day.

You and I know that the best way to deal with illegal immigration is to turn OFF the magnet, but the motive and goal of those pushing this is amnesty. This is just an incrimental step on the path to amnesty.

“Why not just get rid of our borders with Canada and Mexico to become one super country. . .?”

No, that would not work. We need to know the illegals in order to give them Most Favored Status.
