You get nasty and mean when you witness your culture circling the drain. It is good to be old. I’m too old to survive the crunch but I can sure go out in a blaze of glory...and I intend to keep score as long as I can.

To some people, homosexuality is a sin and an abomination to God. Their viewpoints on this are as important to me as those who would have us all f*** anything we want anytime we want. In fact, their viewpoints are at least grounded in 1000s of years of moral and religious beliefs, the latter which receive little acknowledgment by people like Garrety.
In terms of the 47%, yes Romney despises them individually, so he’s unelectable. Most conservatives do not. However, most do despise the culture, the education system, voting blocs and the politicians who have chained us all to the publicly funded benefits of the 47%. It’s a thin distinction but important for this Garrety guy to acknowledge the underlying unsustainability of a nation that tolerates a 47% voting bloc with its mouth on the public tit. Individually they will hate us when we pull them away from it.

Lets look at Chris Matthews’ and Michael Moore’s statements celebrating Sandy the superstorm. I bet less than 5 % of the country knows how crass these people are. If any republican said that, even an unknown town councilman across the country, we’d all be branded with the charge of insensitivity and uncaring.

They’re less likely than conservatives to devote time to ailing or needy loved ones, and they even hug their children less. The GOP goobers can now breathe a sigh of relief. I’m a newly registered “independent”. That’s one less “mean and nasty” donor that they don’t have to worry about anymore. I won’t embarrass them by telling the truth and demanding that the truth always be told. I’m TEA Party all the way now.

I am old enough to remember when this country was far superior in many ways to what it is now. Yes — contrary to all ideas about human progress, that’s the fact. It wasn’t perfect, but it was better, especially in the grade of human being who lived here.
There were stupid things said and done during this campaign. They weren’t things I would have said or done, so I don’t feel any burden to defend them. I do reserve the right, though, to be angry and heartsick when I see the government at every level and an increasingly ignorant and shiftless populace send this country down the drain. There is not a day that passes that I don’t think — and worry — about what kind of country my children will have to live in.
