Two Maine news anchors resigned together at the end of Tuesday’s broadcast after “a longstanding battle with upper management over journalistic practices” including being expected to do politically unbalanced news, the Bangor Daily News reported.
Cindy Michaels and Tony Consiglio announced at the end of WVII-TV’s 6 p.m. newscast that it would be their final broadcast together.
“And finally tonight, this will be Tony and my final show together here on ABC 7,” Michaels said. “The last six years have been an interesting and enjoyable time for both of us as we have been the longest running news team in Bangor.”
Consiglio said “some recent developments have come to our attention though and departing together is the best alternative we can take.”

WVII and WFVX are ABC and Fox affiliates, respectively, owned by Rockfleet. In 2006, general manager Michael Palmer said no more stories on the hoax that is global warming because it had gone from science to politics being pushed by the mainstream media. He compared GW to the killer bee and Y2K scares. Stations are expanding, hiring new staff with benefits, and revenues increasing.
Tells me the news readers who resigned are typical whiny lefties who wanted to report the standard Marxist propaganda instead of the truth.
Management wanted BALANCE...and the teleprompter punks, one who is only 28 years old, thought they knew best.
I am amazed they weren't FIRED.

This is Bangor Maine folks. About six people watch the newscast. And the answer to the question about why they were not fired lay in your previous sentence. They are 28. They are kids, and they cost nothing.
Broadcasters are notoriously cheap at the small town local level. If the could automate it, they would.
Keith Olbertmann has already forwarded his resume and tape samples to the station.
WVII has always been number 3 in the Bangor Market. They are the more conservative station, because WLBZ and it’s Portland sister station is wacko leftwing. The CBS station is a little less leftwing.
