WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - First-time claims for state unemployment benefits fell sharply in the latest week but remained elevated due to Hurricane Sandy, the Labor Department reported Wednesday. The number of initial claims in the week ending Nov. 17 fell 41,000 to 410,000.
Claims in the previous week were revised to an increase of 90,000 to 451,000 compared with the initial estimate that they rose 78,000 to 439,000.

No need to hold back the real numbers now that the election is over.
Well, they still ‘fell sharply’....its like 1984.
:: The number of initial claims in the week ending Nov. 17 fell 41,000 to 410,000. ::
No. No, they didn’t.
:: Claims in the previous week were revised to an increase of 90,000 to 451,000 ::
Which means this weeks “real” number is 420,000.
That old 70’s adage...
“I used to be thoroughly disgusted... now I’m merely amused.” Never more appropos.
Democrats can blame high unemployment on Sandy for the next four years.
Just a few weeks ago, we were supposed to be ecstatic at 385,000.
FU Hussein Heads, and the yellow journalism you worship!
“remained elevated due to Hurricane Sandy”
They list 11 states with an INCREASE of more than 1,000 claims....one of these being California, with an INCREASE of 24,000 claims.
Sandy is just an excuse.
Elvis Costello, "Red Shoes": "I used to be disgusted / And now I try to be amused".
Obamugabe and his moron media....
No need to hold back the real numbers now that the election is over.
When 0bama's BLS were juicing the numbers, they were still terrible numbers (to sentient humans). And even the SCM (state controlled media) couldn't put lipstick on that pig, although they tried.

The bottom line is that the numbers have been between 350,000 and 400,000 since he took office. Give me a call when they go down to 250,000 or 200,000
All going according to the Plan, to take away all Civil Liberties of Americans, EXCEPT gay’s, atheists, ethnic hyphenated Americans and other gender confused people.

No. No, they didnt.’
In fact, they did. The production of Soylent Green increased by 82,000 units.

If jobless claims fell 41,000 to 410,000, that means last week’s jobless claims were ADJUSTED UPWARDS to 451,000. It was reported to be 439,000 last Thursday ( and the headlines claim that Hurricane Sandy was the main factor ).

Since tracking these weekly first time jobless claims numbers after Obama started his first term in 2009, I have yet to see one weekly jobless claim revised DOWNWARDS.
the game is so transparent
increase last week’s claims so this weeks claims are a “decrease”
whoevers nepotistic AssPress hire has the job of writing this drivel should get a job with some real pride, like delivering pizza
“...EXCEPT gays, atheists, ethnic hyphenated Americans and other gender confused people.”
Meanwhile, membership at Ancestry.com has grown dramatically. Hopeful citizens peruse historical records...trying to find some link, ANY LINK to a distant relative that could be used to claim one of these coveted exemptions.
Many, however, have been disappointed with the results...with no provable link being found.
Some have taken extreme measures. Heterosexual individuals are making the extreme sacrifice of having sex with a person of the same gender, filming the occasion, and then forwarding photos of the tryst to various governmental offices so they may now take advantage of “exemption” benefits.
So what’s the almighty per cent age rate of unemployment these days? We got the fantastic news of 7.8% conveniently in time for the election but now the BOL seems VERY quiet abt that....very little trumpeting of the rate now.
Could it be The One was re-elected?
If the claims fell, it can probably be traced to those whose 99 weeks are over, and they went on disability.
Obama’s second-4 is going get even more weird than the first.
