Wal-Mart files legal complaint against growing protests ahead of Black Friday

Wal-Mart is taking legal action against its organized labor opponents, filing an unfair labor practice charge over widespread protests at its stores across the country — as well as rallies planned for Black Friday, considered the biggest shopping day of the year.

The company filed a complaint on Friday against the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, claiming the labor union — one of the nation's largest — has unlawfully disrupted business by staging protests at Wal-Mart's stores and warehouses around the country over the past six months.

The retail giant, which has roughly 1.3 million U.S. workers, is asking the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) for an injunction against the rallies and pickets — even flash mobs — that have sprung up at stores nationwide, according to the Wall Street Journal.

"We are taking this action now because we cannot allow the UFCW to continue to intentionally seek to create an environment that could directly and adversely impact our customers and associates," Wal-Mart spokesman David Tovar said in a statement obtained by Reuters. "If they do, they will be held accountable."

Replace the workers. There are plenty of unemployed who will take their jobs. Screw the unions.

No Thanks. I hate the unions but that doesn't make the cheap Chinese made junk on Wal-Mart's shelves any more desirable.

I say let their employees walk out. Who's going to notice? It's not like any of them actually help customers anyway.

They don't. The unions are trying to organize.

Most (all?) WalMarts have no union labor. That’s why the unions attacks the so much. For me, the final straw in this battle occurred a few years ago. The union scum were picketing. WalMart told them they had to go off of the property, so they went to the sidewalks (across a large parking lot). The Salvation Army bellringers, of course, were not forced to leave the premises (because they were not interrupting business. The unions sued. The dirt-bag judge agreed... either they bellringers had to go off-site as well, or the unions had to be allowed at the doors again. WalMart had to ask the bellringers to go away. People in need got less because of union scum, as always.

I don't understand why people single out Wal Mart. Other stores sell slightly to much more expensive Chinese junk. Go to Nordstrom's sometime and check out its stuff. The difference between Walmart and most of these other companies is that when the stuff is equivalent, Walmart generally charges the lowest price, wherever the product is made, thanks to its industry-leading back office computer systems and its spartan buying practices (meaning its buyers aren't even allowed to accept a cup of coffee from the vendors).

I guess Rob Walton should have upped that measly $1,000,000 donation to Hussein.

Pacifying and buying fascists is a full time battle that you never win.

Some years ago, a friend and I, on a road trip, got really lost. The person who finally helped us was a Walmart greeter.

Petreaus is a good example of what Marxists do. They use you and then they destroy you. It is best to fight them from the start and keep fighting them.

I will be shopping at WalMart on Friday and I dare any picketers to get in my way. Not a threat, just recommending a wide berth.

Good morning. A little off topic...

Like other people we are in BLOAT mode. Went to Walmart to add to the stores, and the shelves were basically empty. Most common calibers and gauges were all sold out. Anything in 12 gauge (except no. 8), 5.56mm, 9mm, 22 were all gone. Left were a few boxes of 44, 32 and one box of 45.

I asked the salesperson when he expected to reorder, and he stated after Christmas, if then. Sheesh.

5.56mm

YUP!

They need to set up tables on the spot in every location and hand out applications like popcorn!

They WILL get applicants!

Our local news mis-reported that the walk out was because the workers didn't want to work on Thanksgiving day.

They had several "man on the street" customers that kept saying, "The employees should be able to spend Thanksgiving with their families" and "I agree with the workers. They need to spend the day (Thanksgiving) with their families. Never did the reporter mention the walk out wasn't over working on Thanksgiving but on Black Friday.

There was one guy (hispanic!) that actually said the day is for giving thanks and the employees should be thankful they have a job as many don't!

My opinion? If they don't like the work hours, find another job. No one is forcing you to work there. My son (many years ago when he was in high school) had to work on Thanksgiving at McDonalds. It was just part of his job.

These "Santa Clause" voters need to grow up!

No more greeters. Nobody to help you get a cart and their parking lots are more like obstacle courses because nobody collects their damned carts. Try asking for sales help on the sales floor some day.

You sound like a Union Organizer, we have greeters at all the Walmart’s I’ve been at in Arizona and New Mexico.

When they opened the Walmart near San Francisco they had over twenty thousand applications for 465 job openings. It sure sounds like the only ones with a problem is the Commie/Union Thugs!

If your aggrieved status runs so deep, why not shop somewhere else?
