its a nice win, but Lt Gov in NC has about as much to do these days as a shop selling VHS tapes.

In Louisiana, the lieutenant governor is the tourism secretary; nothing else really, but he succeeds to the governorship. The last time that happened was 1939, with Lt. Gov. Earl Long becoming governor. He was one of the early “Santa Claus” politicians.

“We’ve been painted as an extremist by our opponents and by the unions, they came up with that terminology. That’s happened throughout history. Ronald Reagan was called an extremist by his opponents, so I think you can look back at history and say Ronald Reagan wasn’t extreme in any way. I don’t think we’re extreme, I don’t think my positions are extreme. They’re mainstream American positions and that’s what we ran our campaign on and so that’s the way we’ll govern as well.” - Lt. Governor-Elect Dan Forest 2012

Very glad to see that our newly elected Republican Governor, Pat McCrory, will be joined by a Republican Lt. Governor and they have a majority Republican Congress with which to work, to boot! They had BETTER get stuff done. There's no excuse anymore.

Every single scenario is completely unique. Every state deals with it's own issue. North Carolina's history is fairly decent when it comes to recount fraud. It is far from perfect, but one cannot compare Florida and North Carolina. I support any candidate who desires a recount if they are legally eligible or can PROVE fraud. Linda Coleman was seeking to sue over "disenfranchised voters". This is the left's buzz word. She was talking stuff like allowing voters to register on election day etc. And the gap was to wide.

I have every expectation this will be an exciting time for North Carolina.

In North Carolina, the Lieutenant Governor is the presiding officer of the state Senate and can vote to break a tie.
