A woman is suing a mens only barbershop after they refused to cut her hair.
Faith McGregor went into the Terminal Barber Shop asking for a haircut but the men refused to cut her hair because they are Muslims and their religion does not allow it.
In June, McGregor, 35, asked a Muslim man at the salon for a mens style haircut, but Co-owner Omar Mahrouk explained that his Muslim faith forbids him to touch a woman who is not a member of his family, therefore he or any of his employees cannot give McGregor a haircut.
Looking at the photo, I can see why this woman went to a barbershop. She looks like she has gender issues.
Heh a lesbian and the left’s favorite ‘religion’ going at it...this should be good to watch, time for some popcorn ;)
I am currently sporting a man’s haircut which was my only recourse after a really really bad haircut at the hands of a beautician. When I went to another salon to see if it could be repaired the only solution was what I am now wearing, at least for awhile.
However, as I have arthritis in my neck and shoulders and fixing my hair is a painful, tedious affair, I just may keep it pretty short from now on.
I used to wonder why so many old women wore their hair short and the many passing years have answered that question.
Terminal Barbershop.
What a name. Get your hair cut here before you blow yourself up.
While I have no brief for Muslims’ attempt to impose sharia on the rest of us, in this case I sympathize with them. There are plenty of places where this woman can get the kind of haircut she wants. Her attempt to get the barbers to violate their religion is out of place.
Hey now! They do it to us all the time. I am glad she is making an issue of it, whether or not it has to do with what could be her gender issues.
Sharia also extends to the medical practice. Women have died because male docs can’t touch the women.
>>While I have no brief for Muslims’ attempt to impose sharia on the rest of us, in this case I sympathize with them
I’ll be sympathetic when they return the favor by supporting respect for, and the religious freedoms of, Christians and Jews (and others).
Next step for this Muslim barbershop is you have to convert to Islam better you get you hair cut
She said it made her feel like a second class citizen. Welcome to Islam.
I love it when one “victim” group butts up against another “victim” group.
Any business ought to be able to turn down any customer for any reason they want. This "Faith" citizeness obviously targetted these barbers in order to penalize them for running their business on the basis of their faith. In other words, this is Faith's anti-faith initiative. She's not looking for a haircut, she's looking to destroy their free exercise of religion.
I hope they win and she loses. She's an anti-faith activist.
And no, I don't care what she feels like. Especially since she feels like telling them they can't run their own dem barbershop the way they want to.
Single sex gyms, fine. Closing down public facility for single sex events, not fine.
Heterosexual marriage only bakeries, photographers, caterers, fine. Homosexual ditto, fine.
Single sex haircutters, fine. Muslim only, or one race only, difficult territory. But do you want someone cutting your hair who doesn’t want to cut your hair?
muzzie barbershop/ butchie deserve each other.......LOL!
When I was a kid there were men’s barber shops and women’s beauty salons, and never the twain did meet.
That still is the case, for the most part, although an occasional woman might go into a barbershop for a rough haircut. I go to a man’s barber shop (with hunting photos on the walls) to get my hair cut, because it’s quick and cheap and they do a good job. As it happens, most of the barbers are women—including the daughters of the guy who owns the place.
The price has gone up over the past ten years from $8 to $12, but that’s still pretty good these days.
I don’t sympathize with the REASON why these Muzzie barbers refuse women customers, but I sympathize with their right to do so. Does this woman want a man’s haircut? I’ll bet she has her own detailed preferences, and would insist on getting it right, and would take an hour of their time, and would sue them if they gave her one of men’s haircuts they are used to giving.
Kinda what I was thinking ... particularly when that someone has access to a straight razor. That said, pass the popcorn -- this ought to be a good fight :-)
Exactly what I thought when I saw this story last week.
This should settle who sits at the top (at least, until some other perpetually aggrieved group comes along) of the Hierarchy of Victims: Sharia-observing Muslims, or homosexual women.
Either way, though, the Human Rights tribunals are on the horns of a dilemma: do they find in favour of the lesbian and trump the fundamental religious rights of a patch in Canada's Multicultural MosaicTM? Or do they favour the homosexual over the religious faithful, thus contradicting the decisions they've made in the past when they judged against Christian print shops, B&B's, youth pastors, etc. that refused gay customers or wrote letters to the editor?
Oh no, the multicult grievance-mongers' heads are going to implode.
LOL! Very witty! (And be sure you make yourself very clear if you ask for a blow dry...)
Canada Ping!
