Carlos Gutierrez, adviser to Mitt Romneys presidential campaign, said Sunday he was shocked by Romneys comments this week on minorities.
I think we lost the election because the far right of this party has taken the party to a place that it doesnt belong.
CNN reported:
In an interview set to air in full Sunday on CNNs State of the Union with Candy Crowley, Gutierrez also sharply criticized Romneys remarks made on a call Wednesday with donors following his loss in last weeks election. Romney explained his loss in part by pointing to gifts President Barack Obama gave to certain groups that turned out in high numbers.
Gutierrez, the former secretary of commerce, said he was shocked by Romneys comments.
I think we lost the election because the far right of this party has taken the party to a place that it doesnt belong, he said. We are the party of prosperity, of growth, of tolerance. I mean these immigrants who come across and what they do wrong is they risk their lives, they come here and they work because they want to be part of the American Dream.
It sure as hell worked in Missouri.
Well, if you believe the left’s version of things unquestionably, I guess it looks that way.
I, on the other hand, remember a race where the GOP-e abandoned the candidate picked by their constituents at the first sign of trouble, and practically handed the race to the Dems. Even in spite of being undercut by his own party, Akin managed to make the race fairly competitive. I’m not saying the left’s “war on women” attacks didn’t hurt him, but it’s difficult to say that cost him the race when Akin was also running against his own party.
Tom, I appreciate what you are trying to do, and I pray that you are somehow able to do it. The problem is that there are so many conservative groups out there trying to do the same thing. The Constitution Party, the Tea Party, etc. Pulling them all together seems to be mission impossible. The only way I can see it happening is to have somebody with the drawing power of a Sarah Palin, Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh heading up the movement. Star power is a fact of life in America. There is no getting there without it. The Revolution had George Washington.
Then there was a TV debate that showed him to be a slow thinking dolt with a bad comb-over. The “war on women” was simply a backdrop. Akin’s ego finished the job of reelecting McCackle.
That's what really happened.
“Third Party” is just a ticket to permanent obscurity for us and permanent minority for the ‘Pubbies. I wish I knew a way around that.
Well, then fix the primary system, and let the idiot liberals worry about the “war on women” nonsense. If we pay attention to that and chase our tails over it, we are just dancing to their tune.
Maybe, but I think if I woke up tomorrow and saw a drudge red siren going off about Sarah Palin or Allen West announcing the formation of a genuine ‘Constitution’ party with bedrock values that America truly stands for, I’d think I’d be pretty damn excited. Let the GOPe and dem’s fight over the scraps. We’re headed down crap road anyway, why not take the gloves off? I have faith in God and the USA that the good people of this country will land on their feet. Heck, I might submit the paperwork tomorrow! Can I can on your donation?
Well, since we don’t have an of these so-called “stars” doing what must be done, us “nobodies,” aka “We the People,” will just have to make the principles into the superstar.
By the way, wasn’t it the “superstars” who got us into this mess in the first place?
:-)
INcredible; the determined obtuseness. If this the message; Party IS doomed; or America is. Divided; is not going to ‘get the job done’. Not in 2014; or 2016.
“”God does not reward salvation to the idle.”
Got a Scripture reference for that?
Also, what kind of salvation are you talking about? Are you suggesting people who don’t exercise their right to vote and/or choose to leave the affairs of this world to the citizens of this world are missing out on something?”
Unfortuantly to “leave the affairs of this world to the citizens of this world” is to leave this world.(IE: Die) those so called “citizen” are little more than criminal thugs, they will not leave you alone, and there is no longer any constitution of civil government to protect you form them.
I too yearn to be free of their tyranny as you do, but we can no more choose to be free of them than we can be choose to be free of any other criminal. We must construct systems of defense to defend & separate us from them. For that we will need your help.
Killing the flesh of your flesh is selfish and evil.
“A nation that kills its own children is a nation without hope.” John Paul II
You don’t need to tell me that.
Maybe it’d be better to remind Todd Akin of what he will not accomplish because of his piety and ego.
“I view it like this, if you’re on a boat headed for a waterfall, do you use your hands as a paddle to try and avoid it or do you wait for someone to drop you a motor to turn the boat around? “
Silly analogy. Voting for Romney or Obama was a vote to continue the status quo. Voting for the status quo guarantees that we go over the waterfall either way, and very soon.
Well, enjoy four more years of the marxist then 'cause you got him.
THERE IS A BODY OF THE REPUBLICANS (the elders) that claim knowledge, experience, superior thinking, strategy, power, insider view, and it is impossible to change their basic thinking, rigidly holding on to the WAY things are done. Someone once described the Republican Convention candidates as old, pale, white haired guys. As was John McCain, Sarah Palin nearly drug him across the finish as winner. He did his best to keep her from being all she could be (not letting her talk to the unions), etc.
Hard for me to believe so many are critical and down speaking to and about her. Sarah can bring a person to believing in her very quickly. She is great. We missed out big time on giving her such harsh abrasive treatment. AMAZING! LORD God help us we are on the wrong path, and most refuse to get off this path!!! We pray for grace, wisdom, and forgivness, for America's conservatives. in Jesus name. amen.
I agree.
“Well, enjoy four more years of the marxist then ‘cause you got him.”
And we would have had socialism with Romney too!!
The worst thing about this election was that Obama won.
The best thing about this election was that Romney lost.
>>All enemies, foreign and domestic.
There is no enemy more subversive than a tyrannical majority being steered by a corporatist state and its teats - typically manifested, throughout history, ala the merger of commerce, government, and religion into a theocratic state of affairs wherein "COMMERCE BETWEEN MASTER AND SLAVE IS DESPOTISM".
Are we there yet?
