Romney Adviser: We Lost Because Far Right Has Taken Party to Place It Doesn’t Belong
Gateway Pundit ^ | November 18, 2012 | Jim Hoft

Carlos Gutierrez, adviser to Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, said Sunday he was “shocked” by Romney’s comments this week on minorities.
“I think we lost the election because the far right of this party has taken the party to a place that it doesn’t belong.”

Ugh.

CNN reported:

In an interview set to air in full Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Candy Crowley, Gutierrez also sharply criticized Romney’s remarks made on a call Wednesday with donors following his loss in last week’s election. Romney explained his loss in part by pointing to “gifts” President Barack Obama gave to certain groups that turned out in high numbers.

Gutierrez, the former secretary of commerce, said he was “shocked” by Romney’s comments.

“I think we lost the election because the far right of this party has taken the party to a place that it doesn’t belong,” he said. “We are the party of prosperity, of growth, of tolerance. I mean these immigrants who come across and what they do wrong is they risk their lives, they come here and they work because they want to be part of the American Dream.”

That's pretty close to a personal attack. Are you calling me a coward?

And the weak sister reference was what?

You dealt the first insult, now deal with the hand that was given back.

Can't handle it, then don't deal it to begin with.

So glad you asked. (To quote Clevon in Blazing Saddles...Scuze me while I whip this out!)

I have retained my moral sense while many others around me not only forgot theirs, but went full liberal and campaigned for a gay rights/abortion supporter.

I have the sense to know that supporting people who want you to STFU, if not just crawl under a rock and die, is the path of either a fear-filled person or a blathering idiot.

I have the proven knowledge that most so called conservatives have a price and they are not real concerned about getting top dollar. They sell out for little/nothing in return.

I also have the warm and fuzzy feeling that regardless of who won this election, there is no mathimatically possible way that we could dig out of this mess, even if every swaggering Johnson, woman, child and gerbil contributed 100% of their income to the cause for the next decade. That being the case, not pissing away the core of who and what I am to run around FR campaigning for a guy who wants me under above-said rock was and is a no-brainer.

And lastly, I have an even warmer and fuzzier feeling that a sufficient number of ‘conservatives’ learned their lesson this trip that in 4 years, you will be in a very distinct minority.

“We” on the other hand, will be a growing force in a new party/movement that is extremely adverse to those mired in GOP excusemongering.

That about cover it for ya?

Loss of voters by death is common ~ failure of election boards to note such deaths is also common. I think what happened is there was a jump up in the death rate for boomers who were overrepresented in the electorate. I think that even bit the Democrats in the tail ~ Goobama lost almost 7 million voters ~ over 10%. That's why he didn't come in just below 69 million, but WAY BELOW 69 million.

His key constituencies have a higher death rate than white folks BTW, so they should be dying off faster.

Both parties gave up on registration wars this year ~ both suffered. One more trip to the acid bath for the Democrats like the one they had this year and they'll disappear as a viable political party.

I live in Washington County, Pennsylvania and I never saw an obama sign all season until about 4 days before the election, and I saw three on well-to-do- looking lawns.

I know NObody that likes obama and the ones that think he hasn't been that bad think he WILL BE WORSE in a second term and were not planning on votiung for obama.

Certainly I don't get around to every circle in the county, but I'm vocal enough (and embarassing ... just ask my wife) to have a feel for the climate, and I felt NO obama love at all.

Every talk show had callers telling about lines they'd never seen so long, all happy to finally get obama out and a R in .. etc.

The end result was a close 52/47 % split in an area I thought was closer to 75/25 Romney.

NOTHING adds up, except fraud.

Context.

I was talking about weak sisters within the conservative movement. Those that have proven that they are willing to compromise their principles.

You, on the other hand, said "as soon as the first shot is fired". If shots are fired, I will be there. I've proven that.

Big difference.

I’m not so sure conservatives need a new party...the platform of the Constitution Party seems to line up with the ideology of most conservatives. Maybe the CP needs an infusion of ‘Tea’...

You said to JRandomFreeper - “Pfft, you’ll be the first to hide behind a skirt as soon as the first shot is fired.”

That tells me you know nothing about JRandomFreeper. I suggest you not be the one to fire a shot as you would be dead before the bullet reached him and if it hit him, it wouldn’t dare enter his skin. Some guys are seriously tough and he’s one of them - mountain man survivor.

i've lived in the same voting precinct since 1978. The number of folks showing up to vote for President has varied from 700 to 1400 over the years. Some years we have 700 following 1400, and other years it's vice versa. People complain about the crowds, and then sometimes complain about wasting tax dollars with wasted space.

The cause is invariably realignment of voting princints to support revised Congressional legislative district boundaries.

The problem is fairly universal so just because somebody reported long lines doesn't mean a thing ~ somebody else didn't report no lines at all ~ because that's not news.

LOL, indeed it did!

I especially love this part:

I also have the warm and fuzzy feeling that regardless of who won this election, there is no mathimatically possible way that we could dig out of this mess, even if every swaggering Johnson, woman, child and gerbil contributed 100% of their income to the cause for the next decade. That is a FReeper keeper for sure!

Seriously, I had no excitement nor support for Romney, but the alternative in my view is not acceptable or survivable, hence Romney is the las grasp of dying breath.

Your point that we're on the last dying gasp no matter who won is most likely the inevitable outcome.

I guess the outcome is written no matter what, so all we can do is prepare...which I have.

I wish us all the best of luck, we're all going to need it.

The CP could form the nucleus of the NEW Republican National Committee and invite state parties to send representatives.

Remember, stage one is to get organized. stage two is to bring in state parties to support the new agency and cut off the corrupt RNC GOP-e. Stage three is to prepare for the next election. Whatever they end up doing over in GOP-e will simply be ignored. There'll be plenty of legal work involved in securing the rights and privileges of the new reporting relationship of the existing state parties.

I made that during the primaries. Amazingly, even the Pro-Romney hardly said anything about it when I posted it on their threads, lol.

That tells me you know nothing about JRandomFreeper.

Perhaps you should follow the thread more closely.

You, nor JRF know who I am as I don't expose that on the web.

Secondly, I don't cotton to being referred to as a weak sister when the aforementioned is axiomatic for all, no?

I’m feeling like something Chinese or Russian. Might as well learn to like it since we seem headed for adopting the rest of their cultures. Might as well grock on their food as well.

How are you with rat on a spit?

“Both parties gave up on registration wars this year “

I didn’t see much activbity on the R side but I did see the D side. Of course, this year ACORN wasn’t running around as much.

Both you and I know one had better ask for a sandwich with kind words and give deference to Johnny the chef if you want to live long enough to eat it. Plus, if you aren’t nice, you don’t know what is in that sandwich.
