Carlos Gutierrez, adviser to Mitt Romneys presidential campaign, said Sunday he was shocked by Romneys comments this week on minorities.
I think we lost the election because the far right of this party has taken the party to a place that it doesnt belong.
CNN reported:
In an interview set to air in full Sunday on CNNs State of the Union with Candy Crowley, Gutierrez also sharply criticized Romneys remarks made on a call Wednesday with donors following his loss in last weeks election. Romney explained his loss in part by pointing to gifts President Barack Obama gave to certain groups that turned out in high numbers.
Gutierrez, the former secretary of commerce, said he was shocked by Romneys comments.
I think we lost the election because the far right of this party has taken the party to a place that it doesnt belong, he said. We are the party of prosperity, of growth, of tolerance. I mean these immigrants who come across and what they do wrong is they risk their lives, they come here and they work because they want to be part of the American Dream.
It is a place the party doesn’t belong if the main goal is to win elections. If the goal is to be principled, then that is another matter for debate.
Being right doesn’t always mean winning.
Gutierrez is a businessman they brought on board to do "Hispanic outreach." Clearly he didn't do a very good job. Maybe he's trying to cover for his own poor performance. We don't know if he was much of an adviser to Romney or just some outsider they brought in to work with Latino groups and make the appeal to Hispanics.
in reality mccain fell 10 million votes behind obama. what you are referring to is an hypothetical situation where several states could be grouped together to give him enough electoral votes to win ~ and as you discovered in this election, obama could lose 6.5 million of his lead and romney could still lose. The same hypothetical states that could theoretically be changed from obama to mccain also went for obama this time. the problem is not enough republicans were encouraged by the romney campaign to come out and vote.
Spoken like a good RINO.............
Yep, CodeToad, as much as I hate to say this. the forces of good have gotten roflstomped. It isn’t even close, and a large amount of those forces do not even realize what has happened tactically.
NO - once again the conservative voters split their votes early in the primary allowing the “moderate” to win with under 40% of the vote.
It happens right here on FR.
I did get hammered and berated because I said I wouldn't vote for a liberal, pro-abortion, anti-gun, big-government, socialized medicine. candidate. I didn't even have to mention a candidate name, to get jumped on by some of the alleged conservatives here.
I'm not Republican, I'm a conservative.

Somebody forgot to encourage the Republican party to fuel the pipeline with new registrations ~ that happened when Romney and the Mittbots invited grassroots Republicans to stay out of it this year ~ so their magic plan could show us how to win.
Well, the magic plan didn't work ~ people don't watch TV anymore ~ and you still have to get out the vote!
This guy is so full of sh!t. He says all these illegals (and he clearly means Mexicans and Central Americans) come here because they want to become Americans and live the American Dream. It’s BS and he knows it. If what he said were true, then why do all these illegals happily and eagerly fly the Mexican flag, refuse to learn English, demand WE change our culture to accommodate Them, and suck dry the social programs this country offered and then clammer that it wasn’t enough!?
Anyone who champions the hyphenization of the American body politic is an ethnic bigot.

This professional corporate Hispanic wants amnesty and open borders which means the Democrats will never lose. Was he really an adviser to Romney? I think this idiot was a Corn Flakes salesman in a previous life
I do blame the GOP, they are not my ideal Representatives of my Conservative values but they were the only choice this time around.
Every time the GOP runs a conservative, they win.
Unfortunately that is not entirely true and hasn't been since Reagan.
What gave us Regan was his ability to communicate Conservative values and ideology going over the MSM heads and talking directly to the people.
We have Conservative today but they don't seem to have the ability to get the message across like he did.
We also have a media that learned from that time and now knows how to circumvent the message, sad but true.
For right now, I would have taken a 50/50 shot with Romney vs a 100% shot of certain failure with obama.
I view it like this, if you're on a boat headed for a waterfall, do you use your hands as a paddle to try and avoid it or do you wait for someone to drop you a motor to turn the boat around?
Louie Gomert struck the first blow, is he the only Patriot up there?
The hispanic guy is a racist POS. Far Right is their codeword for ‘white people’
They are still trying that crap Johnny. Look at several posts on this very thread.
They are the problem.
A man/woman either believes in something or believes ANYTHING. As I have said I want to come back in the future to see the history books on this time period. I am betting there will be chapters on how people on the right embracing ‘lesser evil’ were one of the prominent causes of the continuing downward slide.
Simple “Logic” dictates that you do not achieve your ends by adopting the policies and programs of your opponents.
You achieve your opponent’s ends.
no one stayed home, ...
Yes, they did. Less voted for him this time than voted for McInsane last time.”
No, they left the president line blank and voted conservative the rest of the ballot. That is what I did, too, just like I didn’t vote for McCain but voted the rest of the ballot. I don’t vote for proven liberals, period.
Amen to that FRiend!
