Wife told me about this early today. Told her people like that will eventually move to people because killing animals isn’t thrilling enough anymore.

Not clear to me whether it was entirely deliberate / premeditated. It sounds as if a person outside of the zoo more or less fled into the zoo and was being searched for. He may have hidden in the monkey pen and been approached by the monkey in an aggressive or otherwise bothersome way.

Those monkeys can weigh around 25 pounds and run faster than a human being.

Looks like they’ve caught the perp. As I (and others) guessed this doesn’t seem to have been a deliberate monkey murder.

More along the lines of: 22-year-old idiot gets drunk, decides he wants to steal a monkey. Breaks in, nabs monkey, puts it in his coat. Monkey understandably bites idiot drunk, idiot drunk whacks monkey in the head with tree branch.
