PSALM 95:1-6
"O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker."

Pain is under control, thanks! We're having Thanksgiving at my sister's house - she lives about ten miles from me. This will be a first - both Mrs. MacNessa and my ex-wife will be on hand as well as my eldest son, Tom. Neither of the daughters can make it in, unfortunately. Meghan has a show starting and Mary is out in Spokane - she'll be home for Christmas. So it's the four MacNessa lads.
We're having an epic menu - I'll publish it Wednesday. I pick up the turkey - a 30 pounder - tomorrow at the Iager family farm. My father and I have been buying fresh-killed turkeys from them since the 1970's.
Have to sign off now - Son #2 is craving some puter time. Will be back on the morrow!

Warning Labels
November 18, 2012
Warning labels are everywhere todayfrom new appliances to toys. Even medications include pages of small print about all that could possibly go wrong.
Gods Word is filled with warning labels, alerting us to things that are harmful to our spiritual health. When we read, These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him (Prov. 6:16), it grabs our attention like a flashing warning signal. The list that follows (vv.17-19) warns against destructive tendencies like pride and dishonestysins that damage earthly relationships and grieve our heavenly Father. The text further states that reproofs of instruction are the way of life (v.23). In other words, Gods warnings arent meant to take the fun out of life, but rather to protect and preserve life.
Ill always remember as a child standing with my friend Bobby outside after church and watching him suddenly run toward the busy street. I heard his mother yell, Stop! It was a warning to protect him, not to hinder his freedom.
Too often weve ignored Gods warnings to stop running in the wrong direction and suffered the consequences. Lets remember that theres freedom in heeding His warnings. Theyre for our good.
Lord, thank You for the warnings in Your Word
that are intended to protect and preserve my life.
Help me to heed Your reproofs and instruction
that I may live a life that is pleasing to You.
Gods Word is full of loving warnings
to protect and preserve us.
