RUSH: I just read another op-ed ripping Romney to shreds. You know, Romney's out there saying that Obama really had a great bribery operation going. And Bobby Jindal just went nuts when Romney said that. In fact, here let me grab this. Let me find them. This is Romney on Wednesday, conference call, campaign donors.
ROMNEY: It's a proven political strategy, which is give a bunch of money from the government to a group, and guess what, they'll vote for you. Let me tell you what I would do if I were a Democrat running four years from now, I'd say, "You know what, dental care will be included in Obamacare." Immigration we can solve, but the giving away free stuff is a hard thing to compete with.
RUSH: Okay. I mean, Santa Claus. It is. Apparently it is dire, Romney saying this. Apparently this is a big problem for the Republican Party. We're not supposed to look at people this way. People are just insecure. It's a bad economy. And if somebody's promised security, workers, they can't find jobs, they're not takers and so forth. We're never gonna win anything if we look at people that way. Grab Baracka Claus is Coming to Town. We gotta put that in here. 'Cause my whole Santa Claus theory is obviously now under attack by other Republicans. I don't know how long this will last, so here it is.

The only Republican who spoke up about the Bush Economy during the Campaign was Fred Thompson. He explained that the Bush Tax RATE Cuts (for the Rich), increased Federal Tax Revenue by 35% between 2003 and 2007.
I didn’t hear any other Republican mention that or any of the other positive things that happened. Funny how it all went to hell when Pelosi and Reid took over in January 2007.
Just a coincidence I’m sure.
I kept thinking that by the end of Obama’s first term, even his own voters would see he was hurting the economy. But they all still blamed Bush and were convinced they were better off with someone who at least gave them food stamps and more if things get worse. We never defended ourselves against his lies and believed the facts would speak for us.
I do not know. I was made familiar with this man when he was hired by Governor Mike Foster, and I have known him to be intelligent and conservative.
However his latest actions betray that.
If we as conservatives intend any victory at all, then we are going to have to stand as strong as mountains.
So far, failure.
Well, I grew up largely in Massachusetts, and I liked it. But I doubt if they ever would have elected me governor.
As for Romney, I held my tongue for the most part in the runup to election, and I even voted for him, for what good that did. But his basic mode of operation was to adopt the Democrat playbook. In fact, he was a groundbreaker—first state ever to impose gay marriage against the will of even the Massachusetts voters at the time. And despite the excuses and the pressures, it was Romney who did it.
Also the first to impose socialized medicine. The Dems really wanted it, but didn’t quite dare do it, until a Republican governor stepped up and did it for them. Clinton backed off of hillarycare, when the resistance proved too strong, but Romney was the pioneer who first pushed it through.
You cannot out-Democrat Democrats. Non-democrats would eventually become embarrassed by the absurd cost of the vote-buying. Democrats have no shame and no conscience. Neither have they any sense of what is unworkable or unreasonable. If the electorate is too stupid to recognize sound reason or too greedy and self-absorbed to care, the greatness of this country is finished, plain and simple.
Essentially the establishment RINOs wish to take the GOP back to those “halcyon” days of Wendell Wilkie and Thomas E. Dewey.
I really fail to understand the so-called “appeal” of establishment Republican liberalism. The truly liberal voters are always going to vote Democrat anyway while why would any conservative voters find having to choose between 2 liberal parties appealing?
‘She has her eyes glued on the prize and ready for it. Whoever opposed her I believed has reaped what they have sowed.’
Yep....it’s a shame....i like Paul....also. But Sarah...has it all.... a 24 caret Gold Winner...you can almost tell a person’s worth by his take on
Sarah...I tend to give folks a pass ..if they havent’t read ‘GOIN ROGUE’ but i cant cut em much slack if they haven’t read it and or still have a negative opinion of this absolutly superior human being....
Having participated at a local staff level in Republican politics actively since Nixon’s time and at the state level for Reagan where I was told by the late John L Waner that some of the material I developed for Illinois is in the The Reagan library
This is my considered opinion of the reason for the loss which I’ve posted several times in FR’s and emailed to Rush plus will be posting in my websire http://www.theusmat.com
Expecting voters to know whats going on and their reliance on MSM is just part of why our great loss. While there are examples of fraud which may close up the gap, the gap is too big to blame the loss on fraud ...Expecting GOP Es to address media bias or Romney to call Obama a congenital liar or even point out that the fact and figures released by the white house were allways questionable is another . But the fault lies really in the messaging the Republican campaign gave.choking on political correctness parameters devised by the socialist party known as Democrat ..
Romney ran a Johnny One Note Campaign. Used a poison dart blow gun when he should have used a cannon loaded with grape shot because he had pleanty of stuff he could fill that cannon barrel with..
They failed to hammer away on what will happen when Obama gets returned; The Obama past due 2013/14 Tax Increases. The impact of Obamas choking energy supply policies; use of wind and solar alternate intermittant supply, restricted drilling, use of coal ,ban on fracking, and that related price..(a socialist construct never branded as such) was a bread and butter issue which reached into every demographics pocketbook...The impact of Supreme Court Appointments.. 18,000 new IRS agents and on and on. Including rampant corruption . Some were very briefly touched most werent and Benghazi was left to languish. Then there is Obamas personal extravagance and behavior refusing to visit Nashville after its disaster showing up at New Orleans after Mitt visited it.
Instead we got a sales pitch on executive ability but not the reason why one should toss the old model and buy his. That print and tv pitch , 20 million new jobs, was given a discrarded dose of skepticism .
In addition Rove who I understand was handling the Charter PAC senate campaign played games. His material never warned voters that IF OBAMA GETS RE-ELECTED AND SENATE CONTROL REMAINED . .. OBAMACARE AND ALL THE TAX INCREASES THAT GO WITH IT WILL NEVER GET REPEALED Let alone tie into or cover the formentioned grape shot which would have perhaps changed that body. I don’t recall any of that material directed toward that fact.
Finally they didnt believe the polls which turned out were dead on. Even going as far as setting up focus groups which could have looked into whats going on . Even to the point of going out to local eateries and bars and eavesdrop into conversations and pick up on topics being discussed.(chat rooms twitter too contrived)
Since moving from Illinois to Wisconsin in retirement I joined a local GOP. There Our local small population (-8000) rural blue county GOP had at the outset good and growing attendence at their meetings 50 plus. At the meeting the Thursday before the election only about a dozen people showed up and I knew we were in trouble .
Nuts...This loss is inexcuseable, while I trully don’t believe Mitt Romney would never continence losing, I’m begining to wonder if many GOPE’s didn’t want to see O care go ..
Yeah, the irony of it. They help him get the nomination as apparently the furthest left candidate in the contest and he's pays them back by telling the truth.
He should have shown his gratitude by joining the Rubios and Cristies in the GOPe and blamed his loss on conservatives not wanting to give amnesty and other free stuff away.
This incident does illustrate with clarity just what kind of sniveling, back stabbing cowards comprise the GOP.
We can expect treachery from them and nothing else.
I believe that we are on course for a political divorce of some sort. That’s going to happen whether I like it or not.
The gop is whistling past the graveyard; its a damaged brand that few have any enthusiasm for. As for capitulation to the ‘rats, we already have that. So how is breaking up the gop going to have any effect except for the positive?
Whats to the story that by a 1980 lawsuit in NJ against Republican voting actions the Republican National Committee and Republican Party agreed they could/would never bring any suit against fraudulent voting? How would this affect individual Republican congresspersons?
the Republicans are complete and total idiots if they can’t see that baraka claus bought the votes by expanding disability, obamaphones etc. And to freak out when the flat truth is stated is wrong. The republicans are stoopid
Insightful post. I agree with you that even some GOP can’t turn down what they perceive to be a freebie. They will soon find out. The one issue that may have cost Romney the win is his faith. While not directly challenged by the WH for good reason, many Evangelicals could not bring themselves to vote for Romney. It is difficult to comprehend that nearly 3 million republican voters sat this election out. We must not discount voter fraud. I am disappointed that the national committee didn’t bring some challenges in Ohio, Wisconsin and Florida.
Good luck living behind the Iron Curtain. It makes no sense that a state that voted for Gov. Walker won’t vote for Romney. The same people who go to the polls to vote down gay marriage also went to the polls and voted for Obama. Go figure that one out.
I’m done with the GOP elite. Now Chris Christie (hasn’t he done enough brown nosing of Obama yet?) is bad mouthing ROMNEY for simply TELLING THE TRUTH. Yesterday, it was Bobby Jindal who joined in the “Bash Romney” chorus.
Now, the GOP elite has joined the cacophany to get rid of Rush, just as it kicked Sarah to the curb. RUSH and SARAH are the best things they have going for them; but they’d rather be relegated to being caddies for Obama for the foreseeable future!
And Christie himself; had to insert himself into the controversy; if only because his ego demands it; and he is trying to show; that he still; 'one' with the insiders. . .
Romney never belonged in republican politics, it is easy to see why he chose to run in Massachusetts instead of Utah, which he considered before settling on the state that was closest to his politics.
Too bad he chose to register republican in October of 1993, after having left the party because of it’s conservatism and his coming to support only democrats, including fund raising and voting democrat, and of course the fund raising for Planned Parenthood.
I think Bill Weld comes as close as anyone, Romney said when asked whom in his party he aligned with.
I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. Im not trying to return to Reagan-Bush,
Im not a partisan politician. My hope is that, after this election, it will be the moderates of both parties who will control the Senate, not the Jesse Helmses.
*My position has been the same throughout my political career, and it goes back to the days of 1970, he said. There was a woman who was running for political office, U.S. Senate. She took a very bold and courageous stand in 1970, and that was in a conservative state. That was that a woman should have the right to make her own choice as to whether or not to have an abortion. Her name was Lenore Romney, she was my mom. Even though she lost, she established a record of courage in that regard.*
These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.
Hopefully, Mitt Romney was the peak accomplishment of the GOPe, and now their grip will loosen on GOP politics.
Not only that, but I don’t think the GOP will EVER have a candidate as squeaky clean and morally upright as Romney. In Presidential politics today, being the good guy means you come in second. It it doesn’t matter what your record it, what your experience is, what your platform is or what your policies or ideas are. It’s all about ‘who will make me feel like they care by giving me what I want’. Elections will be all about handing out goodies and smearing the other guy.
