Medical supply giant Stryker is the latest company to announce job cuts in anticipation of coming costs associated with ObamaCare, even though the man who inherited a fortune from the company's founder is a fan. The company will cut 1,170 jobs, or five percent of its worldwide workforce, despite the fact that the founder's grandson was one of the largest contributors to President Obamas re-election campaign. Medical tech scion Jon Stryker, whose net worth is currently estimated at $1.2 billion, contributed $2 million to the Priorities USA Action super PAC and has given $66,000 in contributions to Obama and the Democratic Party. Stryker does not run the company. A "medical device excise tax" included in the mandate imposes a 2.3 percent levy on medical device manufacturers and suppliers, which critics say will raise prices on everything from pacemakers to prosthetics to stents. Companies will be required to pay the tax regardless if they have a profit or loss for the year. The tax is estimated to cost the medical device industry $20 billion. House Republicans tried to have the tax repealed, drafting a bill called the Protect Medical Innovation Act, but the Democrat-controlled Senate has blocked the measure....

Maybe grandma doesn’t need that hip....maybe she just needs the “blue Pill”...all part of the grand design!
I live in a small town and a couple of years back, the current mayor, who I didn't know, stopped to talk to me one day about the up coming election for mayor.
I asked him his political party and he told me that local elections aren't connected to parties, so I asked him how he votes in national elections. He finally told me that he was a republican.
He seemed conservative and I told him that I would vote for him. He stopped by another time before the election and I reassured him that he had my vote. In neither visit did he mention his opponent. That should have given me a clue.
Election day, I went to vote, only to find that he was running unopposed.
I want to know why these guys are so ashamed of their party both R's and D's, that they won't disclose it on their brochures or signs anymore.
Think we conservatives won't notice? lol I also want the Judges to have to disclose who they are. VERY IMPORTANT that one.

My message to the idiot American electorate is: “As layoffs surge into the hundreds of thousands.. no bitching!
Remember... YOU wanted this!”
They have dumbed down math at schools I don’t know if he can find that many good math teachers. When I got my accounting degree I had to do the math by hand before I was ever allowed to touch a calculator. I’ve helped some students in the recent past that only know the calculator and they aren’t required to take much math.

“Well, at least funeral homes and casket makers will prosper.”
Not really.
With the high costs of funeral services and the average American’s income down more and more people are opting for simple cremation.
A GRAVE INTEREST
Death is a $12 to $15-billion industry in the United States. As we continue to die, rates continue to climb. Expenses for a funeral service can vary dramatically, depending on what type of funeral you decide on and where you are located. According to the 2010 Funeral Price Survey by the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) http://www.nfda.org/, Americans spent, on average, $7,775.00 for an adult funeral in 2009, based on the elements of a regular, traditional funeral.
This does not include the cemetery costs which include the gravesite, vault, opening and closing of the grave, or the grave marker. These charges can run another $2,000 to $3,000 for interment in regular cemeteries. (Remember, the larger, more popular or exclusive a cemetery is, the higher the cost to get admitted.) And the price of a grave marker or monument depends on what you choose.

Cheap Cremation ..How Cost and Convenience is Changing our Funeral Plans
An expenditure that most of us do not give any thought to until faced with the role of making arrangements for a lost loved one. However, it is usually the third largest one-time purchase, following a home and vehicle.
The average cost of an adult funeral in 2009 was $6,560, up 17.5% from 2004, but this bill can exceed $10,000 when burial plots, vaults, limousines and obituaries are all added to the bottom line. According to the Cremation Association of North America (CANA), the price tag for a simple cremation costs an average of $1,650, this includes a simple memorial service. If no memorial service is included and a direct cremation performed, the average price is $725.
The cost to inter a cremation urn is also significantly less than the cost for a burial plot for a casket. Burial plots can range anywhere between $1,650 and $5,000, whereas a cremation burial space averages about $995.
Cremations on the Increase
The cremation rate has steadily been on the increase in the United States since the 1960s. The ruling by the Vatican in 1963 to allow cremation for catholic funerals marked a shift-change in traditional burials and funerals.
In 1980 about one in ten people who died in the U.S. were cremated, by 2009 this had reached 37% and by 2018 it is expected that at least half of all deaths will be followed by a cremation.
Just like the progeny of so many founders of great corporations, he’s wracked with guilt over money he did not earn. He assuages his guilt by support radical democrats. History is full of communists whose incredibly successful and entrepreneurial parents and grandparents made the family fortune.
The very sad thing is he’s got his enormous pile of cash and his poor employees are suffering for his folly.
Just how do you ascertain this? Do they post their political affiliations in their windows?
What is it about people in Minnesota? All the 3M retirees who lost their health care benefits due to Obama care and they not only voted for Obama AGAIN, but also re elected Betty McCollum—the biggest Obama care supporter.
It is one of history's great ironies that the Communist Revolution in Russia was essentially financed by the salons of the super-wealthy on New York's upper east side and in London. Pyotr Kropotkin made a killing in Lenin's behalf, seeking the financial support of the third generation Astors, Morgans, Vanderbilts, etc.
That Kropotkin's name should become the genesis for the term "crackpot" was never quite understood by these wealthhy naifs.
Thanks for the bit of info on Kropotkin...interesting fact.
I recently read “The Myth of the Robber Barons” and it had a short bio of Cornelius Vanderbilt among others. His low-cost steamship lines opened travel to the masses. His competitors in the mid 1800s were all taking federal subsidies which they used to build floating palaces for the ultra-wealthy. His competitors went bankrupt and Vanderbilt became fabulously wealthy. History merely repeats itself with Solyndra, et al.
It is a tragedy of human nature that the children and grandchildren who inherited the wealth naively sponsored, championed, and financed communism to atone for their guilt. Of course, that was back when such people harbored childish utopian dreams and before the mass killings and subjugation of hundreds of millions in totalitarian nightmares.
Under the circumstances, one can understand why a Bill Gates or a Warren Buffet might leave a comparative pittance to their issue -- so that they don't piss it away on lame-brained causes.
Those two, however, seem intent on doing that themselves.
And, unfortunately, despite all the bloody evidence of what Communism produces, it hasn't forestalled the second and third generation wealthy from continuing to believe "their childish utopian dreams".
See Stryker, Jon. And every heir and heiress who lavishly contributes to the Democrat party, the environmental "cause", Planned Parenthood, the NAACP, La Raza, the Occupy movement, etc. All they are doing is enriching the socialist forces' stealth attack on their own wealth.

This is proof that just because you're rich you can still be stupid!!
Employers will be dropping their employee health insurance programs before long thanks to bocare.
Just how do you ascertain this?”
...I simply ask. “Who did the owner vote for?” I think you’ll find that liberals are so rabid they’ll blurt out “OBAMA” if that’s the case. They’re a proud lot.
Pine box??? In Obamaland, are you kidding? Not with generous carbon credits!
