Priebus Will Announce Bid To Seek Re-Election As RNC Leader
By Ralph Z. Hallow November 15, 2012
LAS VEGAS Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, under fire from some quarters for the failure of the partys voter-turnout effort on Nov. 6, will inform the RNCs other 167 members on Friday that he will seek re-election in January, two sources close to the chairman said Thursday.
According to the sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, Mr. Priebus will say Friday during his announcement that 112 fellow RNC members have pledged to support him if he seeks a second two-year term, a number far greater than the needed 85 votes.
As of Thursday evening, The Washington Times had received 51 definite yes and four maybe replies from RNC members asked if they would vote for him.
An RNC spokesman declined to comment. Mr. Priebus is scheduled to begin an extended vacation on Friday.
Mr. Priebus earned accolades from Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and others here for the Republican Governors Association meeting.
Mr. Jindal, the RGA chairman, was asked in an interview whether the Nov. 6 voter-turnout failures in crucial swing states were the fault of the RNC chairman or of Mitt Romneys campaign and whether he supports Mr. Priebus or someone else for the chairmanship of the partys national governing body.
Im not a voting member of the RNC, but I think Reince has done a great job at the RNC, Mr. Jindal told The Times. I dont think this is one of those things where you point to just one person and say theyre the reason.

It will be Bush/Rubio, instead - but yeah, it’s underway.
I've never seen a bigger bunch of idiots in my life, besides the evil scum on the other side of the isle.
...or the evil scum on the other side of the aisle.
I vote Alan Keyes!
I’d have to disagree. I’d say putting Michael Steele back in charge would have been far, far worse than Priebus. Reince, at least, stuck to his positions in interviews.
Also, Reince’s stiffest competition for the RNC Chair the first time out was Saul Anuzis, who was ousted from the Michigan GOP leadership by the Tea Party. Not exactly the conservative firebrand one might hope for, and I don’t see how either man could possibly have changed the outcome of the 2012 elections.
Bill Whittle. Unless we want him to run for President.
It does not matter even a little who is RNC chair. He will be a Republican and that is the problem. It is the Republican Party we are talking about; it has no room for conservatives who make it difficult for Republicans socially in Georgetown. If they don’t control their conservatives they get snubbed at the high toned cocktail parties or maybe are not even invited.
Clean sweep !
So apropos using either word.
“Be careful what you wish for.”
Preibus, Walker, and Ryan and still couldn’t carry the state. GO STEELE!
If she wants it sure that works for me
Not about either one of them, I said the outcome could not have been worse. Nothing good came from this election, they let us keep the house to be later used as the fall guy for any and all failures.
