Gen. David Petraeus will testify before a House Committee on the Libya embassy attack Friday morning, despite the ongoing FBI investigation into an extramarital affair that led to his resignation as director of the CIA.
The hearing to be held by the House Intelligence Committee is closed to the public and the media. Petraeus is expected to answer questions about the CIA's knowledge and handling of the assault on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi that left U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead. Two of those Americans were with the CIA.
It was unclear at first whether or not Petraeus would testify at all on Capitol Hill at all, after he abruptly resigned from the agency amid news of his affair with biographer Broadwell. On Wednesday, before the House Intelligence Committee's announcement, the Senate Intelligence Committee said the retired General would testify to their committee at a separate hearing, though it's still unclear when he'll speak to the Senate panel.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calf., chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Wednesday that Petraeus was "willing and interested" to talk to the committee, CBS News reported earlier Wednesday.
"It's just on Benghazi. Our hearings are on Benghazi and the intelligence that preceded Benghazi and the intelligence that determined security," she told reporters.
Meantime, the House Intelligence Committee will hear from him at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, an hour that is extremely uncommon for a congressional meeting.

Behind closed doors.
Gee is there anything about Benghazi that Americans cannot be trusted to hear about?
Another example of the most open administration in history.
I recall everyone involved in Iran Contra getting put on display for the nation to watch breathlessly.
But hey....this is the most transparent administration EVAH!
Wonder why Feinstein is yapping, given that he is testifying before a HOUSE committee, NOT the Senate!
Politicians, and you don’t get 4 stars without being one, are ALL scum!

The hearing is in front of the House Intelligence Committee. The HOUSE!!! Intelligence Committee. Why is Boehner agreeing to a closed-door hearing? Or, is that a dumb question?
Oh Boehner is still around is he? I hadn’t noticed.
And NOT UNDER OATH!!!! Waste of time.
Petraeus was the subject of an Obama organized FBI grift and blackmail worthy of J. Edgar Hoover in the old days. One can only hope that Petraeus has enough fortitude to tell the truth about Benghazi, instead of the Obama talking points on the subject. If not , then the good general needs to be turned upside down and shaken vigorously.
FGS, is there not some willing even the slightest bit curious reporter to investigate this?
We all know the Petraeus thing is nothing more than a diversion away from Obama. Unless Petraeus is going to spill the beans and bring the house down, SFW?
Didn’t Bush and Cheney testify in private after 9/11?
If every gubbermint person, those drawing a government paycheck, were removed for illict sex, how many would be left?
(That might get the government down to a reasonable size.)
Your comparing the president and vp testimony about terrorist attacks in the us soil to this Libya cover up ?
Are you. Kidding me ????
Did 21 years and there's alot of truth in that...
The House Intelligence Committee typically holds closed door hearing for the specific purpose of the name of the Committee. From one who has operated in the intelligence theatre I would expect nothing less with my ass on the front lines.
Granted nothing will become of whatever is disseminated in the hearing because the fix is in and Petraus doesn’t have the marbles to stand up an be honorable. That is why anything he says will be a plus for one side and a negative for the other and it won’t matter which side gets what because he has already compromised himself so anything he says either ay can impeached because he o longer as any credibility.Add to that his wife was “given” a $188K job at the new Consumer deal under the Fe with no accountability to the taxpayers.
This scandal is over as far as getting anything near the truth for at least our lifetimes, no matter how long that may be. Put a fork in it, the Republic is no more except for the whimpers w hear from anyone who care out the truth anymore.
I hope he is the last to testify.
That early? What, if anything is leaked from behind closed doors vfc, it’ll be during everyone’s commute to work so maybe the evil doers will have time by the evening news to spin it? One would think they’d have him sworn in just to be able to hold more blackmail over his head if he didn’t tell the truth whereas if not under oath then anything goes.
Rush is right. Petraeus will stick to the “it’s the video stupid” cover story.
1)Pension at stake
2)Wife just got $187K job with the Obama Administration
3)Mistress may be on the hook for prosecution
Thinking out loud here. Petraeus is said to have followed the company line in September. If true, not only did Broadwell contradict the admin on 10/26, she contradicted Petraeus, her ex lover, in a very public way.
Not sure what it means or if it means anything. Just something to keep in mind.
