Two public school teachers are facing investigations for posting messages that some perceived as critical of President Obama on social networking sites.
In Rock Hill, SC, a middle school teacher was placed on leave after she posted a message on her personal Facebook page about President Obama and food stamps.
Congrats Obama, she allegedly wrote. As one of my students sang down the hallway, We get to keep our food stamps which I pay for because they cant budget their money and really, neither can you.
A school spokesperson said they had received several calls complaining about the eighth grade math teacher at Rawlinson Road Middle School. The teacher has apologized.
A school official told Fox News that the complaints originated from pro-Obama supporters outside the school.
People outside the school system that saw her posting and some of them said they were offended by it, spokesperson Elaine Baker said. She used poor judgment according to our social media policy. Teachers are kept to higher standards.
Baker said teachers and school employees should watch what they post on Facebook to be careful.

I friend other teachers and students AFTER they graduate. Of course, my facebook name is NOT MY REAL NAME.
Still waiting for you to admit that these teachers are doing the right thing and voice some support for them.
Of course I am still waiting for you to show specifically where I insulted you on a previous thread and to apologize for your errors on another one.
Of course all of these would require a christian attitude of humility and integrity.
I wonder if I should begin to judge ALL home school parents by the example you set.
cat fight! cat fight!
Teach the teachers that it’s not smart to get in bed with Monster A even if you don’t particularly care for Monster B.
So here it is:
Government schools are evil. They were built from the beginning on the evil foundation of socialism. They are, and always have been an evil single-payerm compulsory-use, and socialist entitlement. That is evil.
People who support, uphold, and establish evil institutions are evil or Useful Idiots. These people should be shunned.
People who are working for the complete shut down of evil government single-payer schooling are good.
Government schooling can not be reformed because socialism and socialist programs can not be reformed. They must be abolished.
And...I believe you. I you don't work for rewards. You should be nominated for a Mother Teresa award.
They shouldn't NEED to have community support and protection from school administrators, whom if I am not mistaken, live in the US, which would make them also members of the community.
They shouldn't NEED to have community support and protection from school administrators, whom if I am not mistaken, live in the US, which would make them also members of the community.
Cheerio!
Sorry for the double post. Don’t have a clue how that happened.
What the heck does this sentence even mean? You would think that some one that went to medical school and was supposedly a medical professional would be able to put together a simple sentence.
Yeah much better plan; kick them and slap them around for doing the right thing, that always has a way of getting them on your side.
I know that all the snotty comments and personal attacks on me by wintertime has completely convinced me of your position. (I don't need the /sarc tag for that do I?)
I thought you did it because you were really serious and meant every word. (LOL)
For those of you that are not fluent in speaking "wintertime" the translation is: I don't have a cogent response and I am afraid anything say will be throwen back in my face and I will look foolish.
” Rather a stretch to have people from outside the school complaining about Facebook posts.”
Unless FedGov made a deal with Facebook to get access to people’s content online “to keep the kids safe”.
Seems like there have been several cases where the Powers That Be can see private Facebook posts when it has something to do with a school. “Columbine style attack thwarted”, for one headline, and there have been suicide interventions based on Facebook posts.
From what I read in the article if you “stand up” you’ll be punished. And I have to say comparing a teacher’s job to Terry Woods’ heroic actions is pretty big stretch.
No analogy is ever perfect, but having worked in an inner city school for a year and a half and having done all of my student teaching in one as well, it is not a big of a stretch as you might imagine.
Several times I had to break up fights with students carrying weapons, and I was threatened with assault on two occasions, once with a weapon. We also had several drive by shootings one during school hours.
Not sure how I got on it, but would you pleaes remove me from your ping list?
And how did I know that you'd be here defending the indefensible and blame shifting onto the parents again?
Real Conservatives attempt to lift the whole rather than sink to the lowest common denominator.
And people have been singing that tune for decades and where has it gotten us? It hasn't made diddly squat of a difference.
It's well past time to realize that it isn't working and isn't likely to change and start now.
Sometimes the best thing to do is cut the funding and starve the beast.
Time to shut the whole thing down. The DoE needs to go and control of education needs to be put back into the hands of the people with the most vested interest in it, the parents.
Alright, grammar nazi educrat, if you're going to be like that about it,.....
*receiving* (post 50) is spelled *r-e-c-e-i-v-i-n-g* not *r-e-c-i-e-v-i-n-g-*
You know, *i before e except after c or in sounding like a as in neighbor and weigh.*
And *maybe* is spelled *m-a-y-b-e*, not *M-a-q-y-b-e* (post 60)
You would think that some one that went to teaching school and was supposedly a educational professional would be able to spell. And you TEACH kids?
If you're going to rag on someone about their grammar and/or spelling, you'd better make well sure that yours is perfect. Always.
And it's not.
