Last weeks election continued Americas great history of expanding opportunity and equality. Today, we must take the next step on that journey by affording the opportunity to marry to all Americans and we can continue that march by quickly enacting marriage equality here in Illinois.
Throughout my career in public service, I have seen our city and society make progressive strides towards providing greater respect and rights to the GLBT community.
As mayor, I lobbied for civil unions in Illinois. In Congress and within the Obama administration I pushed for the end to Dont Ask, Dont Tell and helped expand health care benefits for same-sex couples.
While we have come to a greater appreciation for the contributions of the GLBT community, gays and lesbians are still denied one essential freedom: the right to make a lifelong commitment to the person they love.
Gays and lesbians are our teachers, our doctors, our police officers, family members, friends and neighbors. Honoring their contributions as full members of our society means providing members of the GLBT community with the same rights and freedoms as every other citizen.
Chicago is a city of different neighborhoods and nationalities, or different religions, races and sexual orientations.
We are strongest when we are one people, united under the same set of laws, with the same freedoms and responsibilities.
The City of Chicago and the State of Illinois have a special place in our nations history as leader in our nations struggle to equality to all. Marriage equality is the next step in our nations march forward. Illinois must lead the way.
Rahm Emanuel, mayor of Chicago

The election has been stolen and now the Democrats are revealing their plans for the second term on a host of issues that they declined to discuss in detail before the polls closed.

I just love my dog. It’s just not right that I can’t marry her!
My granddaughter and her friend commented yesterday that there was nothing wrong with gays. I asked them what it is that homosexuals do that make them gay. Their response was funny to watch. In my opinion, what has been left out of the discussion regarding homosexuality is the acts these people engage in which make them homosexuals. Having love for another person who is of your own gender is NOT what makes someone homosexual.
Might as well. Everything else is screwed up in this state.
Heterosexuals will get civil unions?
For centuries it has been the general rule that you cannot have a valid marriage--one not subject to annulment--without consummation by a procreational act. Does the Mayor have any mental image of just how one would consummate the sort of "marriage" he wants to legitimatize as the equivalent of an actual marriage? Or is he just parroting the official line of idiots looking for a cause?
One cannot have great hope for the future, when so many spout such arrant nonsense. It is not hard to understand, with such a level of public discourse, why we are Losing America's Multi-Generational Purpose.
This is not about compassion for those with a physical or psychological disability. Not in the least. Nor is it about an effort to force religious principles on anyone. That is an entirely different issue. It is about whether we are still able to face reality. If we can no longer distinguish between what is real & what is fantasy, the other issues are all meaningless.

To all Americans and the animals of their choice.
We are strongest when we are one people, united under the same set of laws, with the same freedoms and responsibilities.
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! ---Isaiah 5;20
And who are you to judge. PETA would argue that there is no difference between humans and animals. You are a bigot. A beastophobe.
“Except, of course, for special quotas, special protections, forced membership, scholarships and job set asides for blacks, latinos and public unions...”
“We are strongest when we are one people, united under the same set of laws, with the same freedoms and responsibilities.”
Let me correct the statement for you all:
“Except, of course, for special quotas, special protections, forced membership, scholarships and job set asides for blacks, latinos, public unions and gays...”
Polygamy is much more natural than Homosexual marriage and so is incest. Why are these acts not considered?
If we want equal. Lets get equal.
If polygamy were legal Petraeus would be in the clear. He was merely checking out what he wanted in a new wife.Bill Clinton would also be in the clear, If we were allowed two wives it stands to reason we would be free to try out the projected new one.Adulteress relations between the sex’s is much more natural than Sexual relations among only one gender.
My humble suggestion is that they make Elmo the mascot for their campaign.
So, now the LGBT’s can pay higher taxes - combined income. The divorce lawyers are salivating. Hey, it is not all bad.
The faggots already have the exact same rights the we do.
They can marry anyone of the opposite sex that will have them.
I nominate Fudgie the Fudge Pop for their mascot. Happily being shoved up somebody’s pooper. Because this is what it boils down to advocating as blessed and wonderful and state-encouraged behavior.
