Bid for freedom: People from the states marked in red have lodged petitions asking to break away from the rest of the United States since Obama returned to the White House

Although America carried President Obama confidently into a second term last Tuesday - not everyone is jumping for joy at the prospect of four more years.

Tens of thousands have put their names to secession petitions in 20 states, asking that they peacefully become independent from the rest of the country.

The documents have been lodged on a government website We The People - and Texas has almost enough people behind its petition to warrant an official White House response.

Re #12 —

LOL... , yes I’m sure that is a “Russian Professor’s” prediction of how any secession would go.

Hopefully there will be a big earthquake that will take these areas and make them REALLY deep blue!

Well, God already did a pretty good job on New Jersey...It's a start.

"If over half the population wants a Marxist government, maybe it is time to split into two nations. "

Nah, just give em the cities. That's where they all breed.

OK, Virginia...

Really, Western and Southern VA are as different from Northern Virginia and the Tidewater as Alabama and Massachusetts. They should split off.

I think the speculation was a sort of divvying up the spoils. There might not be all that much concern about contiguity of like populations if foreign countries were just trying to get theirs.

If they know what's good for them, though, they'll make New Scotland out of the Appalachians from northern Alabama all the way up to Pennsylvania and throw in the foothills on either side to boot, lol.

Talk about a hornet's nest under such a scenario.

This is stupid. Most of us were here mocking Democrats who were threatening riots if Romney won. Now we have people saying we need to sucede from the Union since Obama won?!?! We need to grow up and work to find better candidates. This was hardly a mandate, We held serve solidly in the house so people realize they don’t want a banana republic. Are we in trouble with four more years of Obama? Yes, but we need to take advantage of the coming two bad years to win back the Senate and explode our majority in House.

And why should any of us pay any attention to what this Rusky thinks? What makes him an expert? What does he know about how we think in our different states? The following is more like the truth:

Idaho, Utah, and Arizona would distance themselves from this Rusky’s “Californian Republic.” Nevada and NM probably wouldn’t mind.

Liberal Minnesota and Illinois, and perhaps Michigan, wouldn’t be too happy in his Central North-American Republic.

Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, both Virginia’s, NC and SC, undoubtedly would rather identify with the southern states Republic.

And I note that the one thing he didn't provide for was a state or three who didn't intend to be under anybody's influence but their own.

Which state(s) that would be that not only want to be independent but are also singularly strong in military sense, to ensure that they are left alone?

Note that if a state (say, TX) is strong enough to defend itself then it is also strong enough to annex the neighbor - which is the same problem, just seen from the other end.

I don't think it's much of an exaggeration to state that the country already has broken up

Politically - yes. But in terms of control, the country is as solid as ever. Perhaps it is even more cohesive, with expanded rights of the federal government and with reduced rights of states.

The real dissolution begins only after the central government loses power. That may happen for a number of reasons, but financial troubles are the likeliest cause. At some point the strongman in Washington will be unable to provide food to the millions of people who depend on the government. Within a week those millions will be very hungry and very unhappy, to put it mildly.

It will be China, most likely, who will pull the trigger. They will do that when they sufficiently divest their dollar reserves. The rest they will use as a pretext for claiming ownership of everything in the USA, at an opportune time, when the nuclear forces are defanged by the civil war, hunger, and by special ops teams.

The Texas petition has exceeded 25,000 signatures and so will receive an official response from the White House.

Oh, yeah, and did you everybody catch what this Rusky did with Alaska? He has it going back to Alaska. Hey, I live here! This Rusky only hopes that would happen, they have been making waves about taking it back for some time now.

We here in Alaska have common ground with those of the Midwest or Southern group of states.

Todays this is seen as a nutty gadfly joke. But i predict it’s a fight in reality in 20 years. The trend all around the world is breakups. USSR, Balkans, etc. It’s been nonstop for the last 20 years.

When the East Coast Ivy establishment continually ignores and belittles the red states, when they “rule” as an elite of our “betters”, then they are rife with corruption and dishonesty, when they aggressively use laws and regulations to attack red state industries,,,, a separation is in the cards.

What was it Gandhi said?

First the ignore you.
Then, they laugh at you.
Then, they fight you.
Then, you win.
