The big news: It looks like voters have handed two-thirds legislative majorities to the Democrats. The state Senate is a sure thing, and final counting will likely yield supermajority control of the Assembly to the Democrats, thanks, in part, to North Orange County voters ousting of Assemblyman Chris Norby.
Currently, the only thing standing between California residents and an endless series of bumps in sales taxes, income taxes, gasoline taxes and business taxes has been the constitutional requirement that raising taxes requires a two-thirds vote.
Republicans in California dont stand for much, but they have mostly stood together in opposition to tax increases. Likewise, Democrats including the handful of moderates have been unified in their promotion of higher taxes as the answer to Californias problems. Now the Democrats will have their way, early and often.
Its time to start anew and to live within our means but at the same time invest in the cornerstone of our future and of our economy, and thats education, Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramento, told CBS News. I certainly dont mean to suggest to my colleagues that the first thing we do is go out and raise more taxes, he said.
Maybe not the first thing, but certainly the second and third things, if Steinberg runs the Senate the way he has up until now. Gov. Jerry Brown and other high-ranking Democrats assured the public that there will be no tax frenzy. As a headline put it, they vow restraint, but dont believe them. Look at the bills the Legislature passed even when tax increases were not assured.

If footing the bill for sex changes is showing restraint I’d hate like hell to see what fast and free is.
Have I mentioned how glad I am that I moved to Texas this year? Of course, as more out-of-work leftists seeking better economic climes infect the state, it’ll only remain red for so long.

God help us all.
Pity for the decent few left in CA but a quickened downfall will speed recovery.
On the border between California and Arizona are fruit inspection stations, to insure that no infested California fruit are permitted across the border to damage Arizona’s fruit industry.
I wonder how these could be used to keep out refugees from California, seeking to export their bizarre, demanding, and foolhardy politics, while fleeing the results of their handiwork.
I eagerly await the day California goes bankrupt and comes to the US taxpayer for a bailout. I’d love to see that state descend into absolute chaos and unrest, if only to educate the American people about what they chose last Tuesday. Only if the American people see the consequences of atheistic communism up close and personal will they retreat from the abyss.
Union slut. I wonder whats in it for him.
California will have to build an “iron curtain” now to keep businesses from leaving.
It is a myth that somehow things will get better after the inevitable collapse.
We won't rebuild better out of the proverbial ashes.
After the crash, we will still have the same cast of characters, all with their hands out. The unions will still own the politicians, who will still be elected democrats voted in by the majority of freeloaders.
Its not CA refugees you need to worry about. If you slammed the door closed today your pandering politicians from your hometown will still eventually bring the inner piggy out in a plurality of your neighbors, too. 51% is all they need.
The traits that prohibited taking that which does not belong to you have been collectively reduced to nothing.
This will cause tens of thousands to flee from california to red states like Texas. Unfortunately they will continue to vote for liberals which will turn the states blue. Anyone leaving Cali. for another should be prohibited from voting for 10 years.
It wont help you for long. I predict that within 16 months we are all forced to bail out Kommifornia and Il(l) under the pretense of a bond swap with the Fed. We will all be forced to pay the high price of these disgusting liberal petri dishes.
Finishing up projects on my house right now. I wasn’t planning to sell until I retired in four years, but it will be on the market probably in February. I figure with the Dems in complete control it won’t be long before I am required to house at least one illegal, two welfare mommas and put up a statue of a California Condor on my lawn.
Actually, the inspections stations are to inspect agricultural products inbound to CA, not outbound. I have many trucks in them on a daily basis. I have to pay drivers a premium just to get them to drive into that god forsaken hell hole - they all hate it!
I wonder how these could be used to keep out refugees from California,
As a soon to be refugee~~~I assure you that if we pick Arizona we will contribute and vote for conservatives only!
Love America, and bitterly fight the evil left~~
Not all Ca. refugee’s are toxic~:)
I agree. I am not sure how he will do it, but Obama will find a way to make the rest of us pay for California and other bankrupt concentrations of his supporters.
The ONLY reason I haven’t moved to Texas already is I want a job there before I relocate.
Know anyone looking for a sharp wafer fab engineer?
