SANTA FE First Gentleman Chuck Franco, who turned in his sheriffs badge when his wife was elected governor of New Mexico, has gone back to work.
Franco, former Doña County undersheriff and husband of Gov. Susana Martinez, started a new job last week as a security officer at the U.S. Courthouse in downtown Santa Fe, a spokesman for Martinez confirmed.
He is working roughly 20 to 25 hours a week for a private security company that is under contract with the U.S. Marshals Service to provide courthouse security.
In addition to the Governors Mansion in Santa Fe, Martinez and Franco also maintain a home in Las Cruces, where the governors sister lives with a full-time caregiver.
As other New Mexico gubernatorial spouses did before him, Franco receives a largely symbolic salary roughly $2 a year for being first gentleman. The governors salary, set by law, is $110,000 a year.

You mean he didn’t take some cush job (custom made for him) with the state like a Dem spouse would?
“20 to 25 hours a week for a private security company.”
Heh. If he was a dem he would get assigned to security detail at the Governor’s Mansion and get paid for 40 hr weeks plus O.T. for evenings and weekends.
If they only had obamacare. Seriously, my lib family and friends think that obamacare will take care of situations like this.
Exactly!
Her older sister, Leticia who is 56, has special needs and Susana has either always taken care of her or now is in charge of her care.
... Despite this flexibility in her job, Michelle Obama was well-compensated, earning $121,910 in 2004 and--as the Chicago Tribune would report in a Sept. 27, 2006 story--getting a raise to $316,962 the next year.
*******
Michelle Obama was promoted to vice president for external affairs in March 2005, two months after her husband took office in the Senate, the Tribune reported. According to a tax return released by the senator this week, the promotion nearly tripled her income from the hospitals from $121,910 in 2004 to $316,962 in 2005.... -CNS
...As her husband moved onto the national political stage, Michelle Obama began to enjoy a lavish lifestyle at taxpayer expense, directly and indirectly. When Barack Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate, he obtained a $1 million earmark for the University of Chicago Hospital--and his wifes salary as Vice President for Community Affairs jumped from $121,910 to $316,962. Her job: pushing poor, uninsured patients to other hospitals. - Breitbart

Well, Michelle has moved on,and guess what...that vital job of hers, worth a salary of over $300 K has been quietly eliminated. -Chicago Daily Observer
Sheesh, don't get me started on the shenanigans Democrats in North Carolina have pulled. Bobby Etheridge lost his Congressional gig and Gov. Bev Perdue found him two consecutive six figure "jobs" to keep him busy until his next campaign. And then there was Mary Easley, Gov. Mike Easley's wife, who was laundered a cool million or so via "jobs" in the UNC system.
Truly a world apart. Rush was talking about this today; how the Republican’s on the national stage - Susana, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and some others were all products of poor or lower middle class families where hard work was part of family life and brought success through accomplishment. The soundbites of Rush played by the MSM over the weekend left that part out and gave the impression it was all about conservative Republicans hating immigrants.
BTW, as I posted elsewhere last week, conservative tea-party Republican Steve Pearce won reelection in southern NM District 2 with over 59% of the vote. National Republican’s would do well to examine the win especially because the district registration is heavy with Hispanics and only has 34% registered Republicans. One answer - jobs. In the oil patch his vote was over 69% and many Hispanics voted for him because they are wary of what Obama’s second term policies will mean for oil industry employment.
Breitbart also had a story of how Sean Duffy won re-election in Wisconsin. The GOP needs to tap these guys to see how its done. The tea party also needs to use them as a template on how to win, and most importantly, retain the seat. It’s not enough to say I am republican, they need to be out there with the people. We are not rats, for God’s sake!
That is interesting - unlike many politicians at this level, Governor Martinez actually needs her salary to support herself and her family.
People are people - race doesn't matter - it is their level of knowledge and life experience. Dependent, Dumb, and Democrat is the vision of Democrats for all people, not just "minorities." It is just unfortunate that minorities are disportionality represented in that group, and Democrats exploit this to make charges of racism to create an almost tribal mentality to get them to define themselves by their skin color and separate them from their fellow man...it is demeaning and disgraceful conduct on the part of the Democrats and their machine-style politics.
No land deals, no cattle futures, no spectacular stock investments profits.

There was a huge voting debacle in Rio Rancho (5 polling stations for 80,000 people), and lines were running up to 5 hours. Susana brought the people in line bottled water and pizza, paid for out of her own pocket.
She’s smart, honest, and tough. We’re very lucky to have her.
She should run in 2016 with Rand Paul as her running mate.
