Operative Faith reveals that Kroger will soon join the ranks of Durden Restaurants and slash the hours of its non-exempt (hourly) workers to avoid millions in Obamacare penalties.
To give you a sense of Krogers size and importance, its sales last year were $90 billion and it employs nearly 350,000 people. Most of its jobs are hourly and the vast majority of workers are neither millionaires or billionaires.
Faith is a mid-level manager at Kroger and reports the dire news:
Last week we found out that, beginning in January, any employee who is not full-time at that point, will be limited to 28 hours per week and all new hires will be subject to the same policy.
Currently, part-time employees can work as many hours as needed.
Many Kroger employees, I believe, will be shocked to find out about this new policy.

And the cost of health care in a low wage part time economy will skyrocket for Seniors and regular employees to way over 2 trillion, along with pizza and everything else,
We have plenty of them in Virginia, too. They’re the most overpriced grocery store I know if (thanks, union). Items routinely cost twice the price other stores charge.
Remember those advertisements around Labor Day.....
"Unions brought you the 40 hour work week"......
Well, Øbama brings you the 56 hour work week....

Are you familiar with Kroger's pricing system? Essentially they price goods according to your ability to pay, based on the economic make-up of the area. We pay through the nose where I live.
They will work something out with some other place nearby, wherein each will share their employees with the other. An employee will work 20 hours/week at Kroger, and 20 hours at the other place. That way no employee will work too many hours at any single employer.
With the massive layoffs occurring now and in the next few years, people will be clamoring for those jobs. The illegals and illiterates will have plenty of competition.
Sorry I did mean Wegman’s. Biggest rip off? You can get some really good food for relatively cheap prices. I would say that you could get 500 dollars for a family of six (which I have) a month easy.
Hmmm, I didn’t know that. Interesting.

I am curious how this will play out. If they slash hours, and then realize an increased profit in quarterly reports, the the employees will take it out on the company.
A CEO I worked for a while ago understood. He stated “If I screw you over, you will find a way to screw me over 10 times”.
Since the election:
Layoff numbers
Can someone please build a website that will contain the running numbers so I can post to my liberal idiots family members?
People who don't like to cook? Pffft! People who do like to cook go there; you can find far more different kinds of ingredients and foods to use than Kroger.
Yep. Goota share all that pain.
Theys dont dont needent worries any, after all Obamas gonna gives dem everythings theys needs. Ater all he did promise didn't he?
Home depot has the self checkouts. I believe Lowes is considering it, at least the one in Marquette, MI. I was in Flint Michigan and i had no choice but had to utilize the self checkout at Meijers. i got so disgusted with the damn thing, half the items would not ring up. just said forget it and walked out of the store.
Hah! The only thing they will “quickly realize” is that it’s all their parents’ fault, and speaking of whom - they’re starting to get a little old, you know?
Exactly. Who need a stinkin' job anyway when the gubmit is gonna git you everything yo need fo free?
“Im predicting about 15% unemployment in one year.”
By no later than June 2013.
Once the corporate lawyers and tax accountants reassess the state of things and just where exactly they stand, it will open the floodgates of Hell.
