The Petraeus Investigation’s Rogue FBI Agent Mystery (agent was Jill Kelleys's personal friend)
nymag.com/ ^ | 11/12/2012 | Dan Amira

The entire investigation began when Kelley "complained to an F.B.I. agent who is also a personal friend" about the e-mails she was receiving warning her to stay away from Petraeus, the Times reported. (An FBI agent is a good friend to have.) This agent then "helped get a preliminary inquiry started," one which would eventually lead to the discovery of Petraeus's extramarital affair.

Even though the FBI looked into Petraeus and Broadwell and found no evidence of crimes or security breaches, sometime in October this same FBI agent leaked information about the scandal to GOP congressman Dave Reichert of Washington (although why Reichert was chosen is unclear). Reichert then passed the so-called "whistle-blower" onto House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who did the responsible thing and relayed the concerns to FBI Chief Robert Mueller. According to a Cantor statement:

“I was contacted by an F.B.I. employee concerned that sensitive, classified information may have been compromised and made certain Director Mueller was aware of these serious allegations and the potential risk to our national security,” Mr. Cantor said in a statement.

The agent's outreach to these two Republican congressmen about an issue that had already been investigated by the FBI raises some questions. Over at The New Yorker, Jane Mayer asks them:

But what, exactly, was this F.B.I. employee trying to expose? Was he blowing the whistle on his bosses?

So then it was Ms Kelly who lit the fuse and not the Broadwell chick.

This is all I've got...
1:57PM EST November 12. 2012

David Petraeus' extramarital affair with his biographer started after the retired general left the army, according to retired Army colonel Steve Boylan.

Boylan, who served as Petraeus' spokesman in Iraq and remains friends with him, said in an interview on Good Morning America on Monday that Petraeus and Paula Broadwell's affair started about two months after he took over as director at the CIA in September 2011. The affair ended about four months ago, Boylan said.

Well, Broadwell actually lit the fuse, as you say, by sending threatening emails to Kelley.

On her computer, investigators found classified documents,

Accusing a civilian of "having classified documents" on their PC is confirming the fact that it is classified and stupid. The BS whistle is sounding off and it stinks.

> Amazing how easily it is for the JonStewart media to get to the bottom of things when it suits their purposes.

The following tweet by Paula Broadwell suggests that she’s a fan of Jon Stewart:

Paula Broadwell @paulabroadwell

I have 20 tickets 4 Jon Stewart’s Daily Show 4 both Thurs/Fri this week. Let me know if U can B in CLT @ 430pm.

I had been wondering about all that, so thanks for explaining it. It seems very clever - but if was all anonymous, like mildred@gmail.com, how could anything be proved as to who wrote and read what?

Gmail (Google) has the IP addresses of the people who used the account.

That said, the only person who used this gmail account (i.e. actually sent an email) appears to have been Broadwell, when she sent the threatening emails to Jill Kelley.

It is my understanding that the FBI went in an took her PC at that point and began to dig through her other email accounts...and found some to and from Petraeus.

Did you read that somewhere in a news source? Cause I was speculating that earlier today, so I just didn’t want us to be basing that on my prior speculation. I’m confused enough already!

Hi Nita...yes that was based on a source (when I speculate I indicate it as such) but I can't remember the source.

If you need it, I will try to dig it up. Let me know.

BTW, I have several anonymous gmail addresses...and I can access them from anywhere and anyone who has my password can do the same.

Go to gmail.com and check it out.

“Some appeared to be accusing her (Kelley) of an inappropriate relationship but didn’t name Mr. Petraeus. Agents determined the emails were sent from an account shared by Ms. Broadwell and her husband.”

So now Broadwell’s husband could have sent the emails, hoping to create a firestorm to get back at his philandering wife.

FBI investigators determined that the anonymous account from which the e-mails were sent belonged to Broadwell and her husband, who live in North Carolina. Reports are unclear about how they did this, but they say investigators were able to determine what other e-mail accounts had been accessed from the same computer address as the one that sent the harassing e-mails, which may have led them to Broadwell or her husband.

Love triangle? Sharing email account with your husband that you send messages to your lover...sounds very kinky indeed!

You've been reading too many Penthouse Letters.;-)

This was simply a case of the wife using the Charlotte IP to send an email to Tampa...her husband didn't have the password for the Petraeus gmail account.

These emails were sent on a server (gmail) to which the hubby did not have access (at least not to that account).

No, I don’t need a source. I’m just tickled pink that I have enough functioning neurons left to speculate and actually get it right. ;)

You got it right, but I learned tonight that gmail does have a breech detector. I tried to give access to my anonymous account to a friend and I got this message...
Jack,

Someone recently tried to sign in to your Google Account, XXXXXX@gmail.com. We prevented the sign-in attempt in case this was a hijacker trying to access your account. Please review the details of the sign-in attempt:

Monday, November 12, 2012 11:56:28 PM GMT IP Address: 9X.xx.x.xxx (charter.com) Location: anywhere, ga, USA

If you do not recognize this sign-in attempt, someone else might be trying to access your account. You should sign in to your account and reset your password immediately. Find out how at http://support.google.com/accounts?p=reset_pw

Sincerely, The Google Accounts Team

Petraeus obviously has a friend at the Company who knows how to get around this protocol.

According to the links up in 47 & 48, we’re talking about 2 different email accounts. One was “an anonymous account” that was used to send the threatening emails to Kelley, an account that’s shared by Broadwell and her husband. This has not been specifically identified as a gmail account.

The 2nd account, the gmail account, was used by Broadwell to play lovey -dovey with General Petraeus. The Wired article in 47 has details and says this at the end:

“...although reports indicate that Broadwell and Petraeus used Gmail accounts to communicate with one another, the e-mail account that was used to send the harassing e-mails to Kelley has not been identified as a Gmail account in news reports.”

I think Mr Broadwell sent the emails to bring down General PetMyWife.

Unless it’s proven that Mr Broadwell was not traveling with his wife when the emails were sent from the anonymous account. If not, she’s obviously the one who sent them. I just find it unbelievable that someone as educated as she is would do stupid things like sending anonymous threats — behavior that risked bringing attention to yourself while you’re bedding the CIA Director. Duh.

Now, getting back to those 4 people who were abandoned and then murdered ...
