Dr Wayne Dyer describes people as eagles and ducks.
With a majority of Americans voting to give the undeserving Obama a second term, I felt like the odd-man-out voting against him. It occurred to me that I have a history of being odd-man-out, not in sync with the thinking of my family and friends.
When I was in junior high school, my dad acknowledged my artistic talent and encouraged me to pursue a career in that field. Dad said, You could be a great black artist someday. While I appreciated Dad's support, I thought, Why can't I simply be a great artist? Why must my success be limited to the black world?
Admittedly, I probably misinterpreted the meaning of Dad's statement. The reason is because my family and friends appeared to view the world through a narrow black lens, limiting blacks to certain tastes and behaviors. I was criticized and looked at suspect for enjoying music beyond R&B, black Gospel and Jazz. I have always dealt with people as individuals. Thus, I was criticized for having too many white friends. Early on, I viewed the world as my oyster, eager to explore life beyond the American black experience.
Though they love me, family and friends have been furious with me on numerous occasions over the years for not participating in their group think or indulging in unauthorized black behavior.
Rejecting Barack Obama is my latest offense. Not only did I reject the first black president, family and friends found it incomprehensible that I chaired a PAC against him.
So, why have I never quite fit in with my family and friends? Why have I suffered their rebuke all these years? Finally, I understand. They are ducks. I am an eagle.
Obama's reelection has concerned eagles concluding that America has become a huge duck pond. In Obama's duck pond, high flying independent self-reliant eagles are mandated to have their wings clipped, limiting their ability to fly to hovering slightly above the pond. This will not enhance the life of one duck other than appeasing their envy of the eagle's unfair ability to fly high.
When Obama touts hard work, he is really only talking to eagles. Ducks are encouraged to chill-out and rely on government. Eagles are ordered to deliver most of what they gather to government Lilly pads to be redistributed. Ducks simply waddle or float to the nearest Lilly pad to receive freebies delivered via the hard work, sweat and risks of eagles. Free duck-phones are a huge hit.
In Obama's new duck pond America, high minded eagle ideas such as personal responsibility and ambition to build a better life for ones self and their family are criminalized. Obama's vision is no duck having more than another sharing equally for the good of the pond.
To the horror of us eagles, a majority of Americans are ignorant naïve ducks who believe Obama's vision will ensure prosperity for all floating around the pond. Dear Lord help us, please!
There is a reason why the Bald Eagle was chosen to symbolize America. It is a bird of great vision and resilience which refuses to be controlled or contained. Its rights and desire to be free are gifted by God.
Eagles simply can not and will not allow Obama's duck pond to become the permanent new standard of what it means to be an American. Despite the decree of the Imperial Ruler of the pond, eagles will stealthily conceive new ways to regrow their wings to fly high, soaring higher than ever before. Such is the spirit and nature of the American eagle.
Unquestionably, Obama's reelection is a monumental devastating defeat of us eagles. Currently in America, ducks rule!
Eagles across America have already begun to regroup, plan new strategies and ways to educate a nation now dominated by clueless ducks.
For ever long as it takes, American eagles will not give up or surrender until a majority of Obama ducks are defeated or miraculously transformed into eagles. Eagles will not rest until Obama's duck pond America is restored back to its divinely ordained role as the largest greatest eagle's nest on the planet.

Lloyd, I enjoy your writings and it is my opinion that you are a good and honorable man.
Now about the ducks. I raise chickens, geese and ducks. It all started with my desire to have 2 birds - shortly after Obama took office in 2008. I now have over 100 birds, most of them ducks.
Occasionally, an eagle will come by and help himself to a small duck. When this happens the other ducks get all upset, but they go back to their normal lives quite quickly. They are heavy breeders, so their population continues to grow by leaps and bounds.
I don’t clip my ducks wings allowing them to fight off or escape predators, so they tend to live longer. I also think they are happier with Freedom.
You are correct in your analogy and I can tell you that it doesn’t take long for the ducks to foul a pond. ;>)
The wild ducks like clockwork arrived in the late Fall and enjoyed the corn the farmer had set out for them. After a few days they were off again, heading to their winter quarters.
However, over time the Fall stay for the ducks became longer and longer. And after a while there was a large year-round population of ducks. All fed by the farmer who really liked those ducks. Some ducks did continue to migrate, and these after some period of time not longer stopped to partake of the farmer's corn.
One day the farmer died.
Once a wild duck becomes a tame duck, they cannot become wild again. They too died - all of them.

For the cameras maybe but nearly all of them have college degrees. Damned clever rednecks IMO, making fun of "politically correct" society while making piles of money from it.
There is a large percentage of voters who are too young to know what the USSR or Warsaw Pact was, or even why socialism is bad. They just cannot fathom it. But they can understand clipped wings, sloth and greed.

Well, possibly because you are aware among many other things, as a republican citizen of our constitutional republic of the history of this nation, and they are not.
Especially those aspects of it which have particularly affected Black Americans, the most important of which was the institution of chattel slavery.
On a historical note, human chattel slavery is as old as mankind. Islam continues to defend it to this day. It has always been an "'equal opportunity' condition," in that it was not confined to "people of color." In the historical past, slaves were almost always "spoils to the victor" culled from the losing side of wars.
Jeepers, the Barbary Pirates were raiding American shipping in the Mediterranean in the early eighteenth century, seizing American (mostly white) crews and selling them into slavery....
The federal government finally had to act. Which is why we have that line in the Marine Corps hymn, "...to the shores of Tripoli...."
Slavery is not specifically a "Black disease"; but today, American Blacks seem to want to "own it" all for their themselves.... Which, as the Revs. Jackson and Sharpton undeniably know, turns out to be a really good pretext for the flourishing of a culture of resentment, hatred, and indignation, a culture which demands "reparation" of past sins (committed by White people, even though believe it or not there were at least a few Black slaveowners back in the day; and they were not enslaving Whites or Indians. Go figure!)
I gather your family and friends have never heard of Frederick Douglass, to me one of the truly great American thinkers of all time.
For Douglass, the defense of human liberty was a fierce passion. He was incensed down to the ground by the Constitution's "three-quarters-of-a-person" language. But then, evidently he noticed that this language was in glaring contradiction to the Declaration of Independence, which declares that all men are created equal.
Which instantly tells us that any reference to a man in terms of "three-quarters-of-a-person" is logically unfounded and totally bogus. It seems Douglass felt confident that this contradiction would necessarily be resolved in the future, not just on spiritual grounds, but also on rational grounds.
And he was right.
But something your family and friends seem also not to know is that, when the time came, it was the not the Democrat, but the Republican Party that stood up to redress the sheer injustice of slavery, and the bogus "three-quarters-of-a-person" language.
Over and against the screams and cries of the Democrat party, they passed the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments to the Constitution which respectively abolished slavery; gave "equal protection" of the laws to Black Americans; and guaranteed their full right to vote as "100% persons."
For 100 years thereafter, the Democrat response to this magnificent (and long overdue) development was a "separate but 'equal'" doctrine" enforced by (unconstitutional) Jim Crow laws.
In short, it took a hundred years before the equal rights of Black Americans were constitutionally enforceable; and another hundred years before they were actually enforced all thanks to Democrat obstructionism.
So, the burning question for me is: Why on earth do your family and friends find any "friend" in the Democrat party?
The Civil Rights laws of the '60s were acts of perfect cynicism on LBJ's part: He finally figured it out that "niggers" had the vote; so they might as well be Democrat voters. In short: They could be "bought."
Hence the Great Society which manages to do no good for its beneficiaries, while bankrupting the rest of us.
Plus do your family and friends actually agree with the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.'s sublimely truthful observation: That what matters is not the color of your skin, but the content of your character???
Jeepers, Lloyd Marcus, clearly YOU "get this."
So why do your family and friends find this so difficult to understand?
If I were a cynic, perhaps I'd say they actually prefer the condition of slavery to life as truly free men.
That is, they prefer the Democrat "Massah" to take care of them, and Democrat "plantation life" over the life of free citizens.
WHY??? Do they think so little of themselves and their abilities that they need someone to "take care of them?"
If this is so, then: whatta waste of human beings!!!
Thank you Lloyd Marcus for your absolutely outstanding essay/post!

Thank you, dearest sister in Christ, for your wonderfully informative essay-post!
It’s become a pond full of fupped ducks.
I've always wondered how a vast majority of Black Americans seem to think Republicans don't care about them, such that they could give 97% of their vote to reelect the single most corrupt administration in the history of our country, which happens to be at least nominally Democrat, and "half-Black."
A Republican president once cared so much for them that he issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed the slaves and led to the total abolition of human chattel slavery in the United States. He was willing to go to war to secure that result a war which proved to be the bloodiest in the history of our nation. His name, of course, was Abraham Lincoln. In the end, he gave his life for this cause.
There was, however, a downside to this emancipation: Many, perhaps the majority, of the folks being emancipated had no education or job skills. Back in the day, it was virtually a crime to educate Black people. Though some ex-slaves were highly-skilled craftsmen, those who worked closest to the soil were not.
What education slaves received was basically the Good Book, via Black churches. Pretty good for a start, if you ask me; but not enough to compete with better educated people in the society.
To this day, arguably, Black Americans are still not being well educated. Inner city schools are a scandal. Black parents have shown e.g., in the Washington, D.C. voucher program that they are desperate to get their kids out of failing schools, into good schools with a record of achievement.
But I understand that program has been abolished, by an unholy alliance of the Teachers' unions and the Democrat party. 0bama's federal Core Curriculum initiative now being implemented by the several states looks like a guarantee that no student, Black or other, will ever receive a quality education ever again: a quality education being defined as exposure to classical literature, real rather than "fuzzy" math and science, history (especially American history) unfiltered through political correctness, and the inculcation of rational analytical thinking skills.
All things considered, I do not understand how a rational person (of whatever skin color, but especially American Blacks) could believe that the Democrat party is their "friend."
Looks to me like the Dems would just as soon keep 'em all "down on the plantation," while falsely promising to give them "forty acres and a mule." It seems the race hustlers like the Revs. Jackson, Sharpton, Wright, et al. seem hell-bent on keeping them on the Dem's "plantation."
Classic bait-and-switch operation here. Why do folks keep falling for it?
All I can say is: What a tragic waste of human capital, of human possibilities....
JMHO FWIW.
Thank you ever so much for writing, dearest Alamo-Girl!
