APIn Ryan Lizza's story in this week's The New Yorker, Texas' newly-elected Republican Senator Ted Cruz worries about the changing electoral landscape --- and how it could get even less favorable for the GOP in coming years.
Cruz provides what must be a truly terrifying thought for the Republican Party:
"In not too many years, Texas could switch from being all Republican to all Democrat," he said. "If that happens, no Republican will ever again win the White House. New York and California are for the foreseeable future unalterably Democrat. If Texas turns bright blue, the Electoral College math is simple. We won't be talking about Ohio, we won't be talking about Florida or Virginia, because it won't matter. If Texas is bright blue, you can’t get to two-seventy electoral votes. The Republican Party would cease to exist. We would become like the Whig Party. Our kids and grandkids would study how this used to be a national political party. ‘They had Conventions, they nominated Presidential candidates. They don’t exist anymore.’”
Mitt Romney already faced a tough road to the White House through the electoral map this year, and the country's shifting demographics make the map an even bigger problem for the Republican Party in future elections.
Some Democrats think that Texas and Arizona could be the next to become swing states, and there were signs of a future Democratic invasion into these Southwestern states during the 2012 campaign, including San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro's keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention.
Cruz is right: Without Texas' 38 electoral votes, it would be virtually impossible for Republicans to win a presidential election. There is simply not a corresponding state that Republicans are targeting to go from blue to red.

In the aftermath of this painful election it’s easy to become disillusioned. The Dems and their media allies sense this and they’re putting out articles proclaiming the GOP is in disarray, the demographic change only benefits Democrats, and the Republicans have an uphill battle in years to come. Sadly, so many on our side are taking this information as gospel and feeling as if Armageddon is upon us. I’m not denying things are bleak but those people want us to feel this way and have us just surrender and roll over like helpless dogs. We have an uphill fight to save the country but it has to be done because something as great as what we’ve established in America can never be duplicated anywhere else. It’s been a week since the big loss. Time to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and now it’s time to get back to work.
Same thing as happened in NC, yankees and hispanics have flooded in during last 15 years. NV, CO were run over by hispanics and CA transplants.

Here's another myth that needs to be blown apart...many of the people that moved here from Assachusetts were conservatives (hence, the red counties along the RH/MA border)...it is the NEW YORKERS that are stinking things up. Worst neighbors ever. They have no respect for private property, and if you call them on it; you wind up on their 'sh*t list'...not a good place to be. My ONLY Assachusetts neighbors voted Romney and Lamontagne.
GWB was pushing amnesty at the time.

We really need a clear operational definition of “Reaching Out.”
If that means agreeing with demands, concessions in the hope to be finally liked, it will not work.
If, on the other hand it means making the case for our beliefs and showing them why it behooves them to follow our succeful model, it might work.
It is not as if the Republicans have been unfriendly, racist or unwelcoming. Quite the contrary. McCain was staunchly in the “legalize the illegals” corner, as was W. Bush. Did it result in ANY additional support in 2008? Did Reagan’s amnesty do it? Did some Republicans supporting the “Dream Act” help? Rubio’s reaching out? Or is this narrative really just a construction to channel Republicans to think that they MUST have Jeb Bush in 2016?
The way the reaching out has been done results so far in those special interest groups staying with Democrats, and Republicans losing their base who see little reason to work for a party which agrees with the opposition party. Republicans lose both the issue and even more votes.
That is certainly the truth. But I think it’s because maybe a lot of conservatives don’t really have much faith in our message (which, btw, doesn’t just relate to economics).
And for all the hand-wringing about “minority voters,” it should be remembered that very large sections of the white demographic (including working class younger white males) also voted heavily for Obama. About the only safe group was older rural or small city white males.
We’re simply not getting the message out. The electorate, of any color, is so poorly educated that most of them have no idea what states’ rights means, probably at least 50% of them have never heard of the Bill of Rights and have no idea what people mean when they talk about preserving or defending various amendments, they are clueless about economics, and they are increasingly unchurched, so they don’t have the fundamental ethical or moral formation to understand the implications of individual responsibility (and, again, not just on an economic level).
So we really have to review our approach overall. The message that goes to everybody from young white males to middle-aged Hispanic housewives to elderly black church people has got to be the same, and it’s got to start from the basics of our vision and inspire and get people excited about it again.
Texas is now, according the US Census Quick Facts:
Population 25,674,681
45% non-Hispanic white
38% Hispanic
12% Black
4% Asian
It's generally accepted that around 1/3 of the Hispanic population is in the US illegally. That's probably higher in Texas.
But still, a significant number of Texas Hispanics have to be voting for Republicans. I think this illustrtates that Republicans do well among the established Hispanic families that have been part of the US for several generations, and not so well among new arrivals.
There could be around 3,000,000 illegals in Texas. Amnesty would probably add a million or more of current illegals to Texas' eligible voter totals. Amnesty alone could turn Texas into a battlground state by legalizing the current illegals there.
Mexico is rapidly populating Texas. Within 10 years it will cease to be the state it is and petitions to withdraw from the union will be for the purpose of integrating with mexico. Soon following will Be California. then Arizona. The reconquista movement is winning through the birth rate. It is unstoppable and inevitable. When a nation will not defend its borders and sovereignty it ceases to be a nation.
Before Reagan granted amnesty to 3 million illegals he got 37% of the hispanic vote. After he got 30%. His amnesty has drawn another 20 million illegals and the morons in the republican party think with a new amnesty they will get theiri vote.. fools simply fools.

Unfortunately, that’s not what happens. Just like a happy person living with a depressed person, the depressed person does not get happier - the happy person becomes depressed.
Oregon is a good example of what happens to a red state that is “invaded” by blue staters. In the 50’s & 60’s Oregon was a republican and conservative state. After being invaded by Californians and hippies in the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s and 10’s, its a blues states’ blue state.
This is just like what is happening in the country, where people from other countries come here for the freedom and opportunity of America, and immediately try to start changing it to their country away from country. Eventually, it starts looking like where they left to get away from.

They thought Bush was going to support amnesty and he did. Congress killed it.
Illegal immigration has and will cost us our country and our freedom. I’m afraid there is no solution at the ballot box.
BTW..we are considering moving from CA to TX, but we will bring two more conservative votes and political contributions.

Texas was solid democrat in presidential votes up until 1952..
1952-1956 .. Republican
1960-1964-1968 .. Democrat
1972 .. Republican
1976 .. Democrat
1980 on .. Republican
No Republican will ever win the WH from now on out. This ended 4 yrs ago. The cancer has now invaded all areas & will eventually kill its subject.
