An Egyptian jihad leader, with self-professed links to the Taliban, called for the “destruction of the Sphinx and the Giza Pyramids in Egypt,” drawing ties between the Egyptian relics and Buddha statues, local media reported this week.
Murgan Salem al-Gohary, an Islamist leader twice-sentenced under former President Hosni Mubarak for advocating violence, called on Muslims to remove such “idols.”
“All Muslims are charged with applying the teachings of Islam to remove such idols, as we did in Afghanistan when we destroyed the Buddha statues,” he said on Saturday during a television interview on an Egyptian private channel, widely watched by Egyptian and Arab audiences.
“God ordered Prophet Mohammed to destroy idols,” he added. “When I was with the Taliban we destroyed the statue of Buddha, something the government failed to do.”
His comments came a day after thousands of ultraconservative Islamists gathered in Tahrir Square to call for the strict application of Sharia law in the new constitution.
But in retaliation to Gohary’s remarks, the vice president of Tunisia’s Ennahda party, Sheikh Abdel Fattah Moro, called the live program and told Gohary that famous historic military commander Amr ibn al-Aas did not destroy statues when he conquered Egypt.

The best response to this thug would be to declare any attempt to destroy such artifacts as a “crime against humanity”, for which the perpetrators could be imprisoned for life.

Great idea. Egypt doesn't need no damn tourist money - their people are soooooooooo productive. Here's an idea - they could build a statue of a 50 year old man 'marrying' a 9 year old.... and another statue of a man killing his teenage daughter because she winked at a man. Yeah, the world will come - ready to hand their tourists dollars off to these 'winners'... Go for it.
What is it? It's that radical muslims feel the power to destroy is the same as the power to build.
It's not.
A two year old can light a match that burns down a house. But that same two year old can't 'build' the house, or the garage, or the decorative bird house on the front lawn. Radical Muslim totalitarian types are losers. They're two year olds with a pack of matches who think they're the equals of great architects. They think destroying is the same as building.
We need to allow radical muslims have their way - let the loser counties be monuments to stupidity. Rather than going to see the Pyramids, we'll flock to see a culture that stupid. An inferior cultures that can be laughed at - for the entertainment of their betters. Enjoy. It's funny on some levels.
I'm with you - the world needs to see radical muslims in action ... Is it really possible they could be so short sighted?? YES! They're having a tantrum - watch and laugh at them destroying what little they have... Radical muslims need to record it - so for all time people can see how stupid they were... so we can all feel superior to the idiots..

Piece of cake. All these barbarian morons need to do is rediscover the engineering that built them (bring back the Ancient Aliens) and somehow re-enslave the Jews for labor.
