The father of David Petraeus' mistress Paula Broadwell has defended his daughter today as an 'exceptional person', saying he supports her 100 per cent after details of her sordid affair with the decorated general were made public.
General Petraeus's relationship with Broadwell, his biographer, was revealed on Friday after an FBI investigation which suspected corruption between the pair.
Broadwell's father Paul Kranz, a retired high school basketball coach, suggested that the explosive revelations that led to Petraeus resigning as CIA director, have been used to cover up a bigger scandal.
This looks like the kind of mess where somebody turns up dead in Fort Marcy Park.
I dont accept the premise that we all have to look old, gray and overweight at 60. I offer Exhibits A and B: Laura Bush, 66 and Ann Romney, 63.
I believe that something has been wrong in the Petraeus marriage for a long time, not that it is what we should be focused upon. The Obama gang is using a sex scandal to try to hide the truth about Benghazi.
LOL!
I’ll offer Exhibit C: Barbara Bush, white haired at 40.
Some people simply age faster than others.
Some aren’t as good looking.
See, I’m representing ugly people. Some of us just are. Now I’m old, too. And I have a beer belly, but I really, really like beer.
What, do I now have to worry about my wife having an affair becuase of that?
She’s just not that shallow.
She even says now there’s more to love.
Bottom line for me, Holly doesn’t look that bad to me. She doesn’t look like she let herself go, like the cat lady or something.
No it does not make sense ..but neither does the fact that the president of the United States was never told his appointed director of the CIA might be being blackmailed...that man needs to attend more security meetings
Add me please.
Ha Ha, touché !
I think you did better in the spouse lottery than Mrs. Petraeus did. But you obviously have a lot to offer beyond pay & benis!
Who is this man with his hands tied behind his back being led off from the Bengahazi consulate. Is he one of the CIA Bengahzi prisoners?

oh sorry annie, did I get the wrong person?
well the something that is wrong in the marriage is that the husband is ignoring his vows. It doesn’t say, til a hotter piece of axe comes along, it says til death do us part. There is nothing in the marriage covenant that says you always get to feel on top of the world, sometimes things are just plain difficult.
Yeah, I think so. it’s ok. I thought it was funny, you know none of us makes mistakes, rofl.
I know this is not my discussion, so please forgive me for interrupting.
At first I couldn’t believe you called Holly Petraeus dowdy - she is a fantastic supporter of military families and as a military spouse (fairly recently retired) I am pretty crazy about her.
I think that Gen. Petraeus’ marrying her was very fortunate to his career, considering her family background. She would also know “everything” about how to navigate and automatically have a ‘foot in the door’ in places that others might be quite envious of.
But this post, I agree completely. You are right. I have two stereotypes, based on my personal observations for senior officer spouses (though I feel many fall somewhere in between the extremes).
One stereotype is as you describe: competitive, keeping themselves up, as you say. There have been women I knew who took that to an extreme. One base where we lived, I walked into the first social and thought “why are all these 40 something women dressing in their daughter’s clothes....I had been taking good care of myself and dressed nicely - I thought - but I had a sense of junior high throwback at this assignment, and I felt very dowdy in what I thought was my understated, elegant look. haha.
The other stereotype is more like Mrs. Petraeus, where her vision is on her own kind of mission by supporting her husband’s career, by being very active in the military family community.. supporting military families, taking on their issues and so on. If that makes sense. They don’t see the physical maintenance as very important, aside from trying to “stay healthy”... and perhaps even shirk it a little as being vain and a waste of time.
She is 60 years old, and I think she looks beautiful and caring in a matronly way. When is it going to be okay to look matronly, if not at 60? But still...
You are absolutely right that people are superficial. I just hate thinking that that’s what it boils down to.
That all changed when Monica’s father received a form letter from the Democrats soliciting donations to Bill Clinton’s legal defense fund.
Well, we certainly know a lot more about what was going on than we knew a few days ago, but nothing important. It simply appears that the women were an unnecessary distraction. I am left wondering what in the world Kelley was really doing for the State Dept at the airbase. What the heck did they need an unpaid “social liaison” for, and who would want such a job?
We did find out why the pulled the plug on Petraeus on election day, though. Petraeus had just recently conducted his own investigation into the Benghazi fiasco and had just returned from a fact finding trip to the Middle East. Obama didn’t want Petraeus to testify.
