WASHINGTON — On a conference call with House Republicans a day after the party’s electoral battering last week, Speaker John A. Boehner dished out some bitter medicine, and for the first time in the 112th Congress, most members took their dose.
Their party lost, badly, Mr. Boehner said, and while Republicans would still control the House and would continue to staunchly oppose tax rate increases as Congress grapples with the impending fiscal battle, they had to avoid the nasty showdowns that marked so much of the last two years.
Members on the call, subdued and dark, murmured words of support — even a few who had been a thorn in the speaker’s side for much of this Congress.
It was a striking contrast to a similar call last year, when Mr. Boehner tried to persuade members to compromise with Democrats on a deal to extend a temporary cut in payroll taxes, only to have them loudly revolt.

When is he up for reelection as Speaker? Early January I would think?

If I recall, it wasn’t too long ago that the senate majority leader (?)[speak not his name] said that if Romney were to win, there was no chance of little hairy reed working with him. Of course now that the show is over, if the house won’t work with the prez there’s always those pesky executive orders. Go Levin!!!!!

I am not sure when he is up for reelection. Will try to find out.
IF the House stood firm and refused to go along with nobama AND the Prez went around with EO’s AND gets away with it, then we no longer have a Constitutional Representative Rebublic Government, rather a dictatorship. This and/or punishment of the Red States will gen up the “official” requests for peaceful secession, which could force nobama to give in and give up his Musilini impersonation (he does have a record of capitulating when threatened with greater force, just never been tested on this grand a scale before).
I loath RINOs more than liberals. Liberals have no shame promoting tax increases, restricting liberty, promoting perversion and infanticide, hating traditional American values, and on and on. RINOs have no core beliefs worth fighting for, and reject and excoriate us conservative patriots who do. How I long for those in the GOP who would pledge their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor on behalf of our nation.
Time for a change...
