(CNSNews.com) -- Although the Republican-dominant House of Representatives controls the federal purse strings, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said that Tuesdays election victory by President Barack Obama changed how he will approach the GOP goal of repealing the health reform law, saying that the presidents reelection made it the law of the land.
Well, I think the election changes that. Its pretty clear that the president was re-elected. Obamacare is the law of the land, Boehner told ABC News Diane Sawyer in an interview Thursday when asked if the House GOP would still make repeal its mission.
However, Boehner also said that the law was still on the table, noting that he still considered it bad policy and that it was not off limits as he begins negotiations with Obama over key budgetary issues.
As House Speaker, Boehner can prevent any funding for Obamacare or any aspect of it through amendments to funding legislation, to a continuing resolution, or by simply not allowing a floor vote on the funding.
I think there are parts of the health care law that are going to be very difficult to implement and very expensive and, at a time when were trying to find a way to create a path toward a balanced budget, everything has to be on the table, he said in the ABC interview.
When pressed, Boehner clarified that no decision had been made yet over which parts of the law would be included in negotiations, saying that parts of the law could be on the table.
There are certainly maybe parts of it that we believe need to be changed we may do that, no decisions at this point, he said.
Boehner repeated during the interview that he viewed Obamas reelection and Republicans failure to achieve a Senate majority as a mandate from the American public for the two parties to work together, saying that it was simply the hand he was dealt.
I may not like the five cards that were dealt to me but those are the cards Ive got in my hand, he said. Now my job on behalf of the American people is to find a way to work with my Democrat colleagues and our Democrat President to solve Americas problems. If there was one mandate that came out of the election, it was [to] find a way to work together to address our problems.
Boehners office clarified his remarks about repeal of Obamacare on Thursday, after excerpts of the interview were released to the public. His official Twitter account posted a message saying that he remained committed to full repeal of the law.
ObamaCare is the law of the land, but it is raising costs and hurting #smallbiz. Our goal remains #fullrepeal, Boehner tweeted.
Boehner spokesman Kevin Smith also clarified the Speakers intentions on Obamacare, saying that House Republicans were committed to repealing the law despite the reelection of its namesake president.
While Obamacare is the law of the land, it is costing us jobs and threatening our health care, Smith told the liberal website Talking Points Memo. Speaker Boehner and House Republicans remain committed to repealing the law, and he said in the interview it would be on the table.
Obamas reelection has made repeal of the law extremely difficult for Republicans after they failed to secure a Senate majority and a President who would sign repeal legislation. Obama has repeatedly stated that he has no intention of negotiating over the law and Senate Democrats have refused to vote on multiple repeal bills sent to them by the House.
I don't know if they'll ever learn. It's like the whole damned country, with the exception of a few aging conservatives, is suffering from some form of Stockholm Syndrome. They can be beaten, starved, thrown in chains and it'll be just peachy with them as long as they're allowed to live another day.
I detest that spineless, weepy, wimpy dumbass. This is the best we have in “”leadership””. If so, then perhaps we deserve to fail and stumble (or be pushed) into the dustbin of fallen civilizations.
It looks like an over 60 hand. Embracing the head of the demonic and she is cursed, already!

I’m kinda screwed anyway. I am one of the uninsurable because of my pre-existing conditions. I found ONE company who will insure me at $3000 a month with a $20k deductible. So, I have to pay the IRS penalty AND my medical bills. Also, Obamacare won’t cover most of my conditions so I will probably be thrown overboard.
And you are right, this world is not my home. I’m ok with dying - many aren’t.
He is holding 5 Aces, just let the deal made with Obama, to raise the debt ceiling, as passed and signed by Obama, go thru. Obama gets his taxes and we get spending cuts. What’s wrong with that? Once again the GOP is going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Maybe they should've elected Republican Senators instead?
Eff them, I wont pay their MARXIST tax. Ive drawn my line in the sand.
17,000 new IRS agents have been hired to enforce Obamacare. Let us know how this works out for you.
Haven't you read about the massive layoffs already? Tons of them due to obamacare.
Oh by the way, people who call me naive are fucking assholes. Just saying.
That target range age makes perfect sense if you are a rabid leftist that plans to have death panels determining what treatment is economical and feasible (or not) for what patients.
Anyone 60 or over is too close to drawing back some of what they’ve put into the system all their lives (unless they are illegals), and we can’t have that. Anyone that is still 55-60 still has a few good working (slaving) years ahead and the Obamanation will need ALL of the folks like that they can still get to work at lower wages to fund their socialism. But once you start drawing from that system, you are a liability to Obama...and no longer wanted.
Better get used to it. Life doesn’t matter to “the One”. We knew that re: his infanticide stance. And that elderly woman embracing him reminds me of how most of the German Jews embraced Hitler.....being uninformed or unaware of his true nature. Once they finally became aware....it was too late.
Ignorance may indeed be bliss ....but for most of the people in America that supported and still support Obama....
that sweet dream is about to turn into their worst nightmare.
I believe God when He says I’m healed but I’m, also, ok w/dying because we know - absent from the body, present with The Lord. So I/you are in a win/win category.
But I hate evil so much, I will fight it to the end. And we all should - we must NEVER NEVER give up the race set before us! And I believe He is always with me and never will forsake me.
You are correct Obama will be blamed, the GOP is out of it’s mind to even think about reaching across the aisle at a time like this. I hate the GOP.
He just won again a few days ago. He's here for a while.
Who gives flip what the enemy media tries - don’t listen to them and become fearful. That says you have no faith which makes you defeated already. Garbage in, garbage out. Turn them OFF and starve them.
He is a fool, he is going to save Obama from Obama’s sequestration. It was Obamas idea and Obama signed it into law and Bonehead is going to save the One and the rats? What a total fool he is.
I think the war is over because nobody showed up. Just as millions didn’t show up to vote against Obama. Add to that the hundreds of thousands of military votes that didn’t get counted....and the millions of fraudulent Obama votes that either got counted or got counted twice, and the Romney ballots that didn’t get counted even once...and the end result is what we have.
We’re screwed. Might as well accept reality and deal with it.
Bugger off you blow hard Boehner and do your dagunmed job
But he does not have to be the Speaker.
