With conservatives across the country concerned about a rumored Republican cave-in in Washington, D.C. over tax policy, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is speaking out. Read his lips: no tax hikes.
McConnell said in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News:
One issue Ive never been conflicted about is taxes. I wasnt sent to Washington to raise anybodys taxes to pay for more wasteful spending and this election doesnt change my principles. This election was a disappointment, without doubt, but lets be clear about something: the House is still run by Republicans, and Republicans still maintain a robust minority in the Senate.

Yeah, the alternatives in this thread are nonstarters. People expect house republicans to elect a leader who will draw a line in the sand on taxes. Obama will laugh and pass it the way Bush passed TARP. I can guarantee my rep (Wolf Virginia) will fold. I will put money on it.
After he folded on TARP (voted yes the first time, but not yet for the second time) I and about 100k other constituents sent him a letter blasting his vote. We all got back the same form letter with his ridiculous logic (”if we don’t pass TARP the deficit will go up”). Thanks to his and other R stupidity we got Obama and the debt exploded!
But you don't understand the workings of the GOP-e! It's not DeMint's turn! Besides, everyone inside the beltway knows DeMint's too...[looks left and right, whispers] conservative...
They're not going to vote in a leader who has already announced his retirement at the end of his current term. I agree that we for someone who is planning on sticking around longer than 4 more years.
I like the line (verbal and in the sand) however, the approach has to change how we present things to the media...perhaps the MSM won’t give us the time to do it, but:
Gotta accompany each response to the MSM/0bama with an explanation WHY taxes are bad and how they work or don’t work...how it relates to the Constitution...wording and re-education is critical...even Luntz mentioned this on Ingraham the other day...words mean something and our wording, explanation does NOT connect with the ignorant electorate anymore (perhaps never did). Our “schools” have dummed our kids down, who are now voting by sound byte.
STFU McConnell.
You’re not convincing anyone — you’ll talk, talk then cave as you always do. Besides, the voters said they want higher taxes, so stop resisting this week’s will of the people.
On tax increases, Boehner said, For purposes of forging a bipartisan agreement that begins to solve the problem, were willing to accept new revenue, under the right conditions.
On amnesty for illegal immigration, Boehner said, “A comprehensive approach is long overdue, and I’m confident that the president, myself, others can find the common ground to take care of this issue once and for all.”
On the effort to repeal Obamacare, Boehner said, “Well, I think the election changes that. It’s pretty clear that the president was reelected, Obamacare is the law of the land.”
This isn’t leadership.
Everyone in a postion of GOP leadership needs to step aside.
Absolutely, minority leader and ESPECIALLY the crybaby speaker.
Options are dwindling people.
taxes are going up automatically at the end of the year
he’s the MINORITY leader, he has no power
Lets get real here..The GOP gave up all credibility on the day Trent Lott slapped Tom Daschle on the back just prior to voting on clintons removal after the House impeached him. The fix was in..clinton walked. I havent voted since that day.
I think that our so called GOP leadership should step aside and let us go over the cliff...let o answer to the people for a change, quit blaming others and take responsibility for this fiasco..its over.
Shouldn’t we get someone else to do the job since the job isn’t really getting done?
Unless they are all in on it???
“...I think that our so called GOP leadership should step aside and let us go over the cliff...let o answer to the people for a change, quit blaming others and take responsibility for this fiasco..its over...”
Yep! They should just let the RATs do whatever they see fit and then stand back and watch the fiscal disaster unfold. Then, hang it around the neck of the RAT party for the next 100 years.
If they cave on this, it is end game for the GOP and any upper mobility in this country.
Right now, the 1%, small businesses (the rich) pay 60% of all taxes. If they raise taxes only on this group, it’ll be closer to 70%.
It’ll be in the best interest of the GOP to let all tax brackets go up.
Can you imagine any future politician trying to make the argument to give a tax break only to the rich?
Somebody tell Mitch that he is well and truly irrelevant. He can crawl back in his shell before he just stands there and bleeds all over himself.
Boehner and his gang of fools can go on with their little pity party in the corner. Be careful they don’t wet themselves.
Blow it up. It does not deserve to survive and is not worth saving.
Yes, line in the sand that he will support about 20 milksop seconds until he is bought off for a few more personal favors for his personal constituent fellow partners in well concealed kick backs.
Bend over and prepare for the liberal fascist redistribution of wealth in order to keep a few of the lefts favorite socialist programs operational as the economy CRASHES.
Balanced budget and debt reduction? Dream on.
Watch the leftist parasites kill the host that has been feeding it for far too long. When it all crashes, I will dance for joy. Then the real fight begins.
Yeah...whatever....
I’ll believe it when I see it. We capitulate on EVERYTHING, including the huge voter fraud issues with this election. WE never fight for what is right.
The proper way to handle this is to say, “they are already getting tax hikes when the bush tax cuts expire. why would we raise taxes more when they’re already raising?”
Maybe our “courageous” Republican Senate minority’s next tactic will be to write a “strongly worded letter” to our treasonous executive.
IF our supposed "conservatives" had an ounce of courage to do this, the Rats would cave. WE have the advantage over the parasites.
The first course of business: dump Boehnerd and McCoonel and replace them with Ryan and DeMint.
