A winter storm battered the Northeast coast Thursday after cutting power to at least 115,000 homes and dumping record snowfalls in the New York City area.
The National Weather Service warned of wind gusts as high as 60 mph along the coast, minor to moderate flooding from storm surges, and more snow, particularly in New England, early Thursday.
More than 600,000 people were without electricity as a result of superstorm Sandy and the new storm.
NBCNewYork.com reported that more than 198,000 Long Island Power Authority customers, 55,000 Con Edison customers in New York City and Westchester County, 197,560 Jersey Central Power & Light customers, and 9,000 Atlantic City Electric customers had no power.

Unfortunately for the people on the east coast, we still have have a President.
These poor people cannot catch a break, God bless them.
What a shame....is The Kenyan on his way?
Let’em eat snow.....
Nothing compared to what is going to happen in the next four years to us all..I saw where FEMA is out because of the weather...Your president will do nothing for you..he will be to busy destroying the rest of the country..
Let their Gov. Savior help them.
I couldn’t care less anymore.
Where’s Bruce Springsteen?
Not to worry, FEMA is on the scene. Oh wait...my bad. They’ve closed due to inclement weather.
Is God voting now?
Me either, Hammer.
Couldn’t happen to a bigger bunch of liberal, America haters.
While Obama and his wife are parting HARD, the east coast can scrape cake from the dumpster..
Sounds to me like they have a problem. Being a good blue state let the government take care of them.
That is what they voted for and you should get what you pay for.
We, who are so dependent on and oblivious to the fragility of our man-made environments, are effortlessly brought to our knees by the forces of nature. The northeast is being schooled by the same teacher who has been educating those who can/will learn from previous lessons along the Gulf & southern Atlantic coasts.
I am struck by those crying in despair in the NY/NJ streets because the be-all Government was not there immediately to help them with the basics such as food and water. People are outraged because folks evacuated ‘without socks’ - where the hell are the socks? they are screaming/crying to the media cameras. The coming economic collapse is going to be horrible and people are going to be crying in the streets briefly, then turning into animals when basic instincts like hunger kick in (seeing some if this now - looting, etc.). The west coast is way overdue for a massive earthquake which will make Andrew, Katrina, Sandy look like a walk in the park. Only the Self-Reliant will survive ... and unfortunately, those hearts will have to be hardened to those who have not done what they need to do to take care of themselves or all will perish. Between the pictures of what is happening with Sandy & the re-election of Obama, this is hitting home big time with me right now ... BIG time ... eyes wide open.
I’m sure he is monitoring the situation from his heated room with a hot drink.
Where is their styrofoam column god now?
No worries. The Red Cross is on the scene with hot chocolate and donuts. Christie is still tingling from his Bruce Springsteen phone call experience.
>is The Kenyan on his way?
I doubt it. Too busy partying with the democrat elite and bloomingIdiotand his new buddy christy. His election is over and there is no need to bother with pleasing voters now.
Meanwhile, we and thousands here in West by God Va are still trying to get the power and phones back on while the democrat party bake their cakes.
Gummint cheese....
Damn Yankees.
