This is the last time I will be voting in a national election. I am in my 60's and have concluded that, if this is the kind of governing Americans want, they should have it...and all its consequences.
Sour grapes you say? Perhaps. But after four years of the most abysmally failed government with consistently high unemployment, 16 trillion dollars in national debt, downgrading of our bonds and monetary system with printing of dollars by the Fed, attacks against freedom of religion, a loss of American leadership in the world, class warfare, homosexuality embedded in our fabric, our nuclear family deconstructed by government policies, gun running to Mexico and lies about it before Congressional hearings, refusal to protect Americans serving in our embassies across the globe, an energy policy that has tripled the price of gasoline at the pump, a Justice Dept that treats people not according to an equal application of the law but according to politics, a politicized press that is derelict in adequately informing the people about its government, attacks against free markets and capitalism, and on and on and on...
If given all this, the American electorate is either too blind to see or thinks that this exemplifies good government, then have at it. Just count me out.
But, some day perhaps people will wake up. My guess is that it will be too late and things most cherished - civic values long held dear - will be gone forever.
In the meantime, this retiree will collect his pension and social security and together with savings watch those younger and smaller in number figure out how they will pay for all the 'government hand-outs' and supportive services the 'baby boomer' generation that is about to retire will require. All the time doing so without the tax revenue on the income they earned while working. They will have to figure out how they, a very much smaller cohort of taxpayers will make up the difference.
They will need to come up with some better ideas than one Barack Obama and his list of accomplishments from 2008 to present. Good luck but you won't be seeing me at the polls ever again. It's been a ride. Adios, Americanos.
I will always vote, even to the point of voting in every piddly little election. Its all I have left but its still my right.
Well stated. I like you will continue to vote as giving that up is total surrender.
My voice will be heard until I no longer can speak.
As posted earlier, planned for retirement a long time ago, enjoying now. Will
focus on Me & Mine now and watch the Takers be Taken in the end.
One day they will be as old as we are, and see that the folly of their youth robbed
them of the richness of their later years.
This is no longer the nation I served and swore to defend when it called on me to do so.
*******************
Roccus, my FRiend, you did NOT swear to defend your country.
You swore a solemn oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" and to bear true faith and allegiance to same.
The future of that Constitution is now of utmost importance and it hangs by a thread. The Constitution is the foundation of our government and without it, we simply don't have a government. With Obummer's known and practiced dismissal of the Constitution, just where does that leave us? If he gets to install another progressive Supreme Court justice or two, then the rights we have known might very well cease to exist.
That is the fight you need to keep up, FRiend.
If I were king, I would ban anyone from voting who lived inside a loop or could see a mountain or ocean on the horizon. That pretty much somes up voting habits in America.
You ain’t seen nothing yet sport . I’m thinking in 4 years with the rats running things you will see this country looking like Greece & Spain .
Now you know why the Dept. of Homeland Security is buying 1.4 BILLION rounds of ammo & 2500 MRAP armored cars . To keep the peasants in line or dead.
I have studied the Open Mass Grave that is the history of the 20th century & in all the genocides, cultural revolutions, dealing with stubborn Kulaks, final solutions etc.not once did the police at the national level as an institution say NO!
Not once did the legal system the lawyers & judges stand up & say NO because they understood that what was going on was wrong, quite the opposite in fact.
Do not be surprised if various talk radio hosts start to being taken into custody for reasons of “National Security” only to disappear.
Things are gonna get real ugly in this country in the not to distant future.
I think you are on to something. I may print up some small business cards and hand out to those who ask for money or send a reply when solicited by mail with your comments about getting from the government what they need.
The book of Daniel chps 2, 4 and 5 states clearly that God rules in the kingdoms of men and appoints whoever He wills; he sets up and removes rulers. Giving us a ruler that will destroy our economic well-being and liberty is likely a judgment on not only this nation, but western Europe as its economy is tied to ours. We’ve in the same state of moral decay and paganism now. So be it.
You're learning to enjoy the little things. I try to do this more and more myself. The world is a comedy for those who think, a tragedy for those who feel. If you don't learn to laugh at it, you will cry. So enjoy what you can, FRiend. Because sadness is already losing the battle. Laughter and cheer might keep you going for longer. Take it from a person with depression.
I've been lax for too long now. I'm already looking for positions that I could fill. Everyone one of us that keeps a power grabbing lefty do-gooder's hands off the steering wheel/money tree/zoning rules ... is worth his or her weight in paper ballots.
Sorry, but that ain't gonna happen. I'm tired, I'm sick, I have no children. I'm gonna leave the fighting for those who care to do so....I'm done. From here on, it's all about me.
It has been over for awhile, the SC dodged the NBC clause and destroyed the country. The constitution pretty much says whatever the cowardly nine says it says. I would like to defend the Constitution it but it changes faster than I can re-load.
