Mitt Romney has fewer votes than John McCain received in 2008! Republicans stayed home

Mitt Romney has fewer votes than John McCain received in 2008! Republicans stayed home!

As of right now, Romney has close to 56,000,000 votes nationwide. In 2008, John McCain had nearly 60,000,000 votes. (Per Wikipedia)

It looks like if all the people who voted for McCain turned out again and voted for Romney, we would have been rid of the Kenyan once and for all.

People stayed home.

It looks like all the Freepers who said they'd never vote for Mitt were not making idle threats

“MASSIVE fraud, for starters, there were multiple reports in multiple states of electronic voting machines repeatedly registering a Romney vote as an Obama vote.”

I suspect fraud but we need more proof. It would have to include the exit polls which back up the small Obama win.

So are you saying the machines switched votes on a large scale in many swing states, then the media purposely faked exit polls?

Sorry need proof but I’m willing to believe it.

For now it just seems there are more Dem voters than us plain and simple.

AGREED. It’s all over but the counting, of the final provisional votes, of the disentangling of the hanging chads.

But, let’s face it, it’s over!

I feel so bad, I have a little grandson, my first, just 3 weeks old....what kind of country is this child going to grow up in?

I am just so sad tonight, so much sadder than in 2008.

I’m always a good one for “keep fighting”, but maybe our cause is really lost now. We’ll just sink down like the rest of the commie countries!

Then I blame them.

They did. Their votes weren’t counted. Does ANYBODY believe folks who voted McCain DIDN’T vote GOP? Zero took notes from Hugo.

But let's not look to the GOP-E who foisted Romney on us.

No, blame those who stood their ground on principles. I, for one, capitulated to the likes of you - and for what: I just postponed sending the message that must be sent to the GOP-E to break this cycle another election cycle.

They will put up another RINO in 2016.

It bears repeating the original premise of this thread is flawed.

There is 10-12 percent of the votes not yet counted. Romney is likely to match or better Mccain’s totals.

Sorry Arthurio but your Ohio numbers stunk and now you’re playing with these too soon as well.

I didn’t stay home and I didn’t vote for Mitt or Obama. I have the luxury of living in a non-swing state (its strong red state) so I voted my conscience like I have been saying all along. I left the GOP and voted for Virgil Goode.

Of all my friends, I only have one who did not vote today. She lives in Utah and didn’t see the point.

It is the GOP elites fault for putting forth Romney, we could have and SHOULD have done much better and for those that did stay home I think many who held their nose and voted for McCain said ‘never again’.

It is time to fire the entire GOP leadership.

Yep. A lot of people will write it off as voter fraud, but the realiity is many people simply weren’t going to vote for Mitt because of his liberal record.

I was thinking the exact same thing. In 2008, Obama received somewhere north of 69 million votes, and McCain received over 59 million.

Right now Obama has almost 55 million and Romney has almost 54 million.

How the HECK did Obama lose almost 15 million votes and still pull off the win???

I would have NEVER thought that McCain would have received more votes. I was convinced that Romney would trounce that number.

Apparently neither side GOTV’d!!

how do you think stolen votes would appear from 10,000 ft?

MANY early votes for Romney were simply scrapped.

another reason against early voting. just gives them time for proper sorting

93% of the vote counted.

We can expect at least 8 million more votes.

Romney will get close to 60 million, perhaps a little over.

The country has changed.

Conservatives probably increased their voter participation a little bit.

But the total number of Conservatives - voting or not - is not growing.

On the other hand, minorities and white Leftists continue to grow steadily.

It’s all about numbers in a democracy.

And the numbers say Conservatives are in deep trouble.

I suspect that those voting computers were calibrated so even though it looked like your were voting for Romney, it still counted as Zeros vote. I’m just sayin’...

But doesn’t this also show Obama got less votes than 2008. One could hardly call that a mandate.

Blame the GOP-e....and even the voters in the primaries who would not get behind one candidate early on. blame the weak liberal candidate ..more people like government safety net so they went w/Obama. Blame that. Storm Sandy help Obama, fake jobs nos. did as well.. Talk radio 24/7 bashing obama causing the pity vote to kick in (revenge motivation)..

- - - -
I held my nose and voted for McLame because of Palin and said never again.

This time I could not do that again. My vote didn’t matter anyway, I wasn’t in a swing state (solid red state and has been since the 1950’s) so I voted my conscience, which means I voted for McCain last time and not GOP this time, so yeah I believe it.

No, I don’t think Republicans stayed home as about 55% of eligible voters did cast their votes. Most elections rarely exceed 40% of the eligible voters casting their votes.

However, there was a group that probably did stay home and they were the Paulites. I know a bunch of them and many of them proudly pronouced that they didn’t cast their votes, so I suspect that a larger proportion of them, relative to their size, did stay home.

I do understand. I DID stand my ground and my principles and caught a lot of flack for it, so much I have been off FR for several months other than to check my mail and the occiasional headlines.

We need to start NOW to get the RINOS out, but I fear that unless the GOP leadership changes, 2016 will be a repeat, the GOP elite will put up another RINO and most will fall in line like they did this time.

All the vote is not in yet. 45% of Cali not in.

If indeed turnout of both sides in down that much, that’s interesting. Very interesting.

And lame, if indeed McCain’s pop vote number would have been enough this time or close to enough. Lack of anyone actually liking Romney was a problem.

Hey I didn’t want him to be nominated. Too bad no one worth a damn ran.

If you don’t think Newt or Perry would have been killed even worse tonight I don’t know what to say. And those liars are barley more conservative than Romney.

Scott Walker please. No more RINO parades. We need a proven CONSERVATIVE LEADER. Not slick liars who tea party it up when conveient for themselves and buddy up with the left behind the scenes. And not good people without the chops like Michelle Bachmann or Herman Cain.

And not blue blood RINO Governors from New England.

Anyone who did stay home, well, I disagree with your decision, big time. Romney is crap, but Obama is evil. But it only mattered if you live in Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Wisconsin, exetera.

Still, everyone should vote, the popular vote is of symbolic and rhetorical importance.
