I really hope republicans desert him next year.
Tubby Turncoat is done in politics.
Nope. Christie was angling for federal money, to no avail it seems. That was part of his job.
Two things sunk Romney:
The hurricane and the resulting media black out was significant. It was a double disaster.
But the main thing was that Romney could only criticize— bad impression on voters. He never offered an image of a vital, flourishing economy. He focused on the trees, not the forest.
We don’t realize in our somewhat insular world, that people make judgements on impressions—fleeting glimpses at the Boob tube and the radio. The only thing that will cut through that is a strong, memorable, image of the future. He offered none.
No republican can win a close election; only a landslide will provide the margin to overcome Dem skulduggery.
Maybe we can tie this up in the courts, but otherwise, we’ve been had. I don’t expect we’ll see another election.
Christie should be banished from the GOP but that doesn’t explain the magnitude of the loss. Folks we got destroyed tonight. It was 2008 all over again. We won NONE of the Senate seats we were supposed to pick up. We lost all over the map. Something fundamental was happening.
My bet is that he struck a deal - the Dems will run a non contender against him (who will subsequently be appointed something cushy and semi prestigious for taking a fall) with little financing.
Classic ‘deal- stab Romney - who never seemed to like him anyway - in exchange for only token opposition in the future. Nice little won/win.
To paraphrase Dean Wormer: fat RINO and stupid, is no way to go through life son. Christie runs in 2013. We need to primary him.
I'm no big fan of Chris Christie, but just take a close look at Florida to see what has happened here. The Democrats won handily among early voters -- many of whom cast their votes weeks before Hurricane Sandy.
If it makes you feel any better, Christie has no future in GOP politics. He ran all over the country raising money for Romney and making speeches at campaign events, and it was all for naught. He is the 2012 version of Rudy Giuliani: a Northeastern Republican whose 15 minutes of fame in the national spotlight are over.
I doubt he'll be a Republican at that point. Obama will appoint him to a federal judgeship.
Romney let him make the key note speech at the convention !!!
The hefty climate change pushing oaf did it on purpose. He had his eye on 2016. Notice how lame and self-promoting was his convention speech. Primary him in Jersey, get him out of there at all cost.
There won’t be a 2016.
Christie has proven himself to be a self-centered slob who is all about himself (and that’s a lot of self). Anyone who goes home and weeps over talking to Bruce Springsteen and gets up close and personal with BO is digusting. May he roll away into oblivion and pop as soon as possible.
Ann Coulter spent two years drooling over Krispy Kreme, begging him to run.
When she didn’t get her way, she told us Mitt Romney was by FAR the most conservative candidate in the GOP field, with the possible exception of, ahem, Jon Huntsman. Yes, she actually said that. You can look it up.
Newt? HE was the RINO, Mitt and Jon were the real deals. Santorum? Funny sweaters. Nope, Mitt was her man.
So her first love, spurned by her second, turned to another for comfort.
Hell hath no fury like a RINO scorned.
Hank
Never give up. There will be another election in 2016, or if not then an armed revolution. Either way things will change for better.
There is a saying in Sanskrit, that gold has to endure the fire in the furnace before it becomes pure.
There isn’t going to be a 2016 for Chris Christie. He was never a serious candidate for a national race, for a number of reasons I pointed out on a thread the other day. People seem to forget than once you hitch your wagon to a loser in a presidential race, you’re pretty much done. This is why Rudy Giuliani is nowhere to be seen, Joe Lieberman was less popular than tuberculosis in his post-2000 races, John Edwards is such a laughingstock that it’s a wonder he was ever a serious candidate for anything, etc.
Actually, from the looks of him, he'd like that.
P.S. Add Sarah Palin to that list, too.
Christie is just another lawyer who knows little about how things work. Proof of this is pulling out the idiotic relic of the 1970’s - gas rationing. He allowed himself to be used as a prop last week. Evidently, he cannot recognize evil when he sees it.
“Christie should be banished from the GOP but that doesnt explain the magnitude of the loss. Folks we got destroyed tonight.”
Yes, It was a massacre tonight. That is why I don’t put this all on Christie.
The Senate races were a disaster. McConnell, Boehner and Gramnesty need to go ASAP. Total failure opposing Obama the last 4 years. Their tip toe through the tulips strategy was a disaster. Bye Bye.
The margins are so slim that you may be correct - what he did probably did tilt the election...after that is when the polls shifted back to Obama.
The Senate races were the clearest indicator that this was not 2010 all over again. If it were then the Senate candidates would be leading. That’s when I gave up weeks ago. Not sure why but as I’ve said elsewhere, it started with Akin and went downhill from there.
