Well, here in Arlington VA, at 7AM there was a ridiculously long line of hundreds of people snaking down several blocks at the polling location. I am just going to go to work and come back this afternoon to vote.

Arlington went 72% for Obama in 2008, and this neighborhood is overwhelmingly young single white professionals.

People work themselves into a bit of a frenzy of optimism on these threads.

I agree. I remember reading a lot of this anecdotal evidence in 2008...and about the polls being oversampling dems...and we see where THAT got us...

I believe this is first election with voter id requirement. The longer lines would be expected especially at the outset.
