This site has been a frustrating disaster for the last week. What the he'll is going on? I can't get the page to load but 1 of 4 attempts. I'm about to give up, and I've been a member since 1998.
Please tell me this will be fixed before Tuesday!!
IBTZ? ... Dis is Hugh and Series!
Haven’t received an official update after John’s latest configuration change, but haven’t had any timeouts in the last twenty minutes or so either. Not lightening fast, but looks like she’s holding up under the load ok. Praying.
something happened a couple of years ago after a serious outage. I don’t know what it was, but ever since then it’s been painfully slow, erratic and unpredictable. We run hundreds of web servers for various clients and I’ve never seen behavior like this unless something was seriously broken... but then again, the load on the FR servers is easily 1000X what I am used to dealing with. This is likely one of the most heavily loaded website online today so I’m sure it is a challenge keeping up with it on a purely donation based model... not to mention the constant childish DOS attempts from the feeble-minded
Thanks for the update, Jim. It seems to be working a lot better for me, now that I’ve gone back to the regular URL instead of ip address, LOL.
You guys work miracles - any chance y’all can tweak the votes, heheh. I don’t ask for much - just a fifty state sweep for Romney/Ryan, LOL.
MHGinTN - those that know me don’t call me hugh or series - more like “that funny little guy”. Here in Texas where everything is bigger, and everyone under 6ft tall is considered a Texas midget - guess where that puts me, LOL.
Now as far as possibly getting zotted, I’m hardly worth the effort - - - but then you never know when lightning will strike, heheh.
Now THIS is like the old FR I remember! I hope that John’s ‘workaround’ really does the trick. And just in time for the election!
Tweak the votes? Workin’ on it. As the dems say, vote early vote often. And make sure your ancestors get to the polls too.
Nah, just a good ol’ server-side snafu for no reason perfectly timed with a double-move (of my physical presence) and fits with rural DSL that made me pine for the days of 56K dial-up. I have had long spans of time these past two months with no computer and/or no Internet and the very real possibility of no roof over my head (was starting to look pretty bad! but all is well now.) In essence, it was just very bad timing—the worst. The technical issue should have been solved within a few days, so it’s pretty embarrassing to have had to put everyone through it for so long.
THANK YOU!!!!!!
God bless and keep you, John.
We’re all happy, happy now.
We already did.......
New tagline.........
Great job, John!! Thank you very much!!
I found it so speedy on FR I thought my laptop was in meltdown mode.
Thanks guys.
.
Well, they say timing is everything. You sound confident and upbeat about the prognosis. Good deal!
Thanks John! I promise I’ll stop my b!tchin’ now. Hope things are turning around for you now.
Yes, John, thank you for your efforts. We commend you for hanging in there during the double-move.
