The state Supreme Court issued an order Sunday to allow California's political watchdog to identify contributors to an Arizona group's last-minute infusion of $11 million to the campaigns opposing Gov. Jerry Brown's tax initiative and supporting an antiunion measure on Tuesday's ballot.
But the Arizona group declined to turn over its records by the court's 4 p.m. deadline and told a state lawyer it was planning to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, said Ann Ravel, chairwoman of the state Fair Political Practices Commission.
The refusal reduced the likelihood that the donors will be publicly identified before Tuesday, when the California ballot will include Prop. 30, Brown's measure to increase income and sales taxes to fund schools and other programs, and Prop. 32, which would prohibit unions from spending payroll-deducted dues on political campaigns.
An Arizona nonprofit called Americans for Responsible Leadership gave $11 million on Oct. 15 to a California committee that opposes Prop. 30 and supports Prop. 32. The nonprofit did not identify its contributors and appealed a Sacramento judge's ruling last week ordering it to disclose its records to the FPPC.
The commission said it may have been the largest anonymous campaign contribution in California history.
Federal law does not require such organizations to name their donors. But the FPPC says California law mandates disclosure if the donors knew the money was going to a political campaign in the state. If so, the only question is whether the names will be disclosed before or after the election.

Release them on Tuesday at 6 p.m...
I’d be happy to relay any message the ‘Arizona group’ may have for the California Supreme Court.
“... when the California ballot will include Prop. 30, Brown’s measure to increase income and sales taxes to fund schools and other programs, and Prop. 32, which would prohibit unions from spending payroll-deducted dues on political campaigns. “
The money goes into a general fund, and the schools will be the LAST ones to get a shot at needed funds. Gambling Casinos were supposed to provide more than adequate ‘taxes’ to extravagantly fund the EDUCATION system in every state, yet every state wants more taxes because ‘schools’ aren’t getting needed funding.
Does anyone have a simple and rational explanation for that ?
And you can bet that Proposition 32 guarantees the unions that they can deduct campaign money from individual payroll, under the guise of some ‘other’ use.
Maybe I’m wrong, but a lifetime of experience and a little common sense says I’m not.
Public Union Goons HATE competition...
When’s a detailed list of 0bama’s ‘credit card’ donors going to be released?
Dear California,
Eff you.
Harsh note to follow.
Signed, Arizona
F........you CA
They should just pull an Obama/Hillary/Patraeus/Carney and emphatically assert that there is simply nothing to see here.
Soros is involved somewhere I bet
Obviously NO ONE is permitted to disagree with the leftist Gov of Kalifornia!

I think more groups should tell these liberal judges to go to hell.
Politicians lie and steal, simple as that.
Harry Truman earned $25,000.00 a year as President, and when he retired and went home he refused SS protection. Compare that with the money we pay for Clinton.
Richard Nixon left office broke and in disgrace, without a book deal he would have been in bad shape.
Among the reforms our republic could use is zero salary or retirement for Presidents. It means men of private wealth only would serve, those who would be less likely to conduct themselves like the current embarrassments.
Thank you. I haven’t read the full proposition, so I should have kept my opinion to myself. I just don’t trust our politicians.
