In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, it seems to be pretty clear that residents of New York City and the surrounding areas could use all the help they can get.
However, a Davisburg man said some people in the area are more interested in “protecting their turf” than in distributing those supplies to the masses.
Mike James, an independent trucker, said he and three other truckers were told to haul a load of transformers to the city to replace equipment anticipated to be lost in the storm.
James, two men from Holly and a Flint man arrived in the city Tuesday night and slept in their trucks before attempting to deliver the 144 transformers to emergency workers.
When they arrived Wednesday, they were turned away by Con Edison employees because they were not union workers.

I know I am saying this out of anger, but it is the truth...The U.S. has to be one of the most crooked countries in the world.
Even the little Republic of Panama passed a law a couple of years ago stating no person was required to join a union if that person did not want to.
The unions are a big reason why prices are so out of whack in the U.S. and why businesses are seeking else where in other countries to manufacture their goods.
Well, that’s OK. I won’t send my donation since the union is taking care of everything. I’d be afraid, if I sent a check, it would go in their pockets like it did with GM. I’ll save my money for the next disaster (or buy ammo).
The unions are probably afraid that the non-union crews will be seen doing the tasks, better, smarter, and faster then the union slugs.

It’s a union thing . They want these non union to sign up into their union so when the pay check comes the people running the union gets their cut . They do not care if people are dying of lack of water because there is no power to run the pumps they want their cut . What you are seeing is how democrats get rich while saying they look out for the little guy in action .
FEMA is pretty worthless too . I have been in sooooooo many hurricanes and never seen them once but then I have always lived in a white middle class area .
You can not count on other people to care for you in times of trouble , especially in large cities .
