While thousands in New York and New Jersey struggled in the devastating aftermath of Sandy, some celebs couldnt stop the party.
Giuseppe Cipriani and son Ignazio threw a lavish bash at Cipriani 42nd Street on Wednesday night, as Halloween was canceled across the region and downtown Manhattan remained cloaked in darkness.
Stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Dita Von Teese, Jay-Z and Beyoncé joined the bash, which Cipriani reps say went on until well after 5 a.m. and was not for charity.
One guest told us, The Ciprianis put a lot of effort into the party, bringing in DJs who play Ibiza, including Marco Carola, by private jet, as well as guests from Europe who frequent Cipriani venues. It was one of the best mix of celebrities, great decor and music I have ever witnessed at a party. Dancing went on until 6 a.m.
Crowe stayed low-key, while DiCaprio tried but failed to make a subtle entrance in a mask with a gaggle of 15 models. Crowe was so impressed with the scene, he tweeted, Leo, jay Z, Beyonce, Jonah, Dita, what a room, Cipriani 42nd St, amazing space, explodes on Halloween.
Another source said Jay and B arrived unexpectedly and stayed for 20 minutes. They were also spotted at Midtown club Lavo on Wednesday night. Sources tell Page Six they evacuated from their TriBeCa penthouse after losing power and moved uptown, where they have a second apartment. The A-list couple were also seen relaxing at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
While we heard some guests paid $10,000 a table, and the bash was awash with all-you-can- drink champagne, a party rep claimed tickets were $200 each and said the party wasnt canceled since many guests had flown in from Europe, adding, It was all about the music.

The title makes it out to look like Leo was the only celebrity there. I could really care less about them having a good time. I am sure that they will give to the Red Cross. I especially am just waiting for Sandra Bullock to give a million like she has every tragedy before and she does not brag about it one bit...she actually gives quietly but for some reason someone always has to tattle on her.
vomit
” vomit”
WINNER
I am no DiCaprio fan, but as a conservative I find it hard to call him out on this. His partying doesn’t hurt anyone who is suffering (any more than anyone earning a high income harms those who make less). The fact that he is in New York, close by those who suffer shouldn’t matter. I am sure he could just fly to the Left Coast and party just as hard, if that would make people feel better.
There is suffering all over the world. Should no one have any fun until all suffering is alleviated? Most would say no.
There are, or ought to be, limits on gluttony and wasteful expenditures of money, but those should be self-imposed. Even if I had the money, you wouldn’t find me living it up that much— probably because I am 55 year old fart who likes it just fine at home with a $5 bottle of wine and a lovely wife....
All you can drink bubbly for only $10K?
They must really be using the cheapest champagne they can get.
The type you unscrew.
But it sure shows where these peoples’ priorities in life lie.
I always find things like this silly. At any given time somebody is suffering, and somebody else, probably geographically near by, is having a great time. To decide the later isn’t allowed because of the former is wrong, it’s another one of those attempts to make life fair by spreading guilt.
I would agree, except for one thing, these are the very same people who say Republicans only care about the rich, and that they care about the planet, DiCaprio pretends to care about the Earth...Jay-Z sings about Hos and drugs, these people are the scum that our media tries to lift up as examples for people to follow.
With all the wealthy people in NY city, I am surprised at least a few have not organized and worked to get those people out of the filthy flood water. No American-Americans?
Someone(s) needs to act quickly.
But none of that really has anything to do with it. Either people are allowed to enjoy their lives to the best of their ability or they aren’t. And if they aren’t the world gets pretty bad pretty fast. Yeah these people say stupid things a lot, that’s still not a reason why they can’t have a party, even in NYC right after a hurricane.
They can do whatever they want, still I say, it says a lot about where their priorities lie.
I don’t think it says anything. If I lived in the area and came out unscathed I’d get drunk as hell to celebrate and then go about my normal life as best I could. As it just so happens for this crowd 10K a table parties are their normal life so they can do both at the same time.
If this was a movie...
Staten Islanders would be the third class passengers on the
Titanic.
—locked in the bottom while the ship sinks—
and first class loads calmly into the lifeboats.
By the way- ...Bloomberg would be White Star line CEO Bruce Ismay.
Where was Obama on Wednesday?
BTW, OT, where’s Michelle?
Thanks drewh. And, an AGW Demagogue parties.
