Utility workers from Alabama, touted by Governor Christie as coming a great distance to help restore power, were reportedly turned away from New Jersey because they did not belong to a union. Alabama utility crew in New JerseyAlabama utility crew in New Jersey (WAFF TV)
Huntsville Utilities, Decatur Utilities and Trinity Electric workers were sent to Long Island instead according to Huntsville, Alabama TV station WAFF because “they were told by crews in Seaside Heights that they can’t do any work there since they’re not union employees” according to one of the employees.
Some of the crews wound up in Roanoke, Virginia while others headed home.

But the Mob would be quite upset, missing their cut of the Union Dues and contract graft.
similar thing happened in N. Minneapolis after the tornado a few years ago.
What’s really sad is that between stories like this and Bloomberg diverting critical resources to the city’s Fun Run, a lot of people who would otherwise have donated or volunteered simply will not.
Let’s see how big The Man really is when confronting the usual thugery of the unions in NJ. Politicians who are running for office within a year tend to be pussy cats. He’d better retain his governor’s job, because he will never be the GOP presidential nominee in ‘16 after his performance this week.
No need to apologize. As I posted on one of the NYC marathon threads earlier today, good people like you have to endure almost unendurable jackasses in positions of power, and then you get a storm like Sandy on top of it to multiply the misery.
