U.S. yanks support for Syrian opposition group, warns of extremist takeover of uprising
Washington Post ^

ZAGREB, Croatia — The Obama administration on Wednesday renounced the proclaimed leaders of the Syrian political opposition and said any group seeking to oust President Bashar al-Assad must reject attempts by extremists to “hijack” a legitimate revolution.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said the Syrian National Council, or SNC, should no longer be considered the “visible leader” of the opposition. That made official what has been the increasingly obvious sidelining of an opposition group led mostly by middle-age Syrian expatriates.

They’re yanking support because their gun running operation in Benghazai was exposed and they are trying to limit damages (hat tip, Glen Beck).

AQ in Libya is thought to have attacked that particular facility because some of the weapons were being stored there and they wanted to get their hands on them (and probably did).

They spent hours looting the place.

What a joke of an Executive Branch!

i dont think its as much a joke as it is their view of how they want to remake the world. its the same idea as thinking that obama has been trying to create jobs. he’s been trying to “transform america”, (he told us),into a socialist utopia, and he hasnt made “mistakes” on the economy he just made “incorrect assumptions” on how the american people would accept socialism.

Yep. You're 100% spot on. As such, Barry's actions should be grounds for Impeachment. Which may be is likely to be a moot point in a few days.

That being said, Impeachment may be out, but Obama being tried for Treason for his aiding and abetting sworn enemies of the USA is still in play as that doesn't have an expiration date that he can duck(1)

. (1) unless he moves to Cuba, China, Russia, or Venezuela on the morning of January 21, 2013 ;-)

Yep. Benghazi cover.

“We do NOT support the known extremist groups we’re supposed to be at war with, and whom we’ve heavily armed anyway at the cost of the Benghazi four.”

“We’ve been saying that extremists would take over since the Tunisian uprising something like 2 years ago.”

Dead on right!! Most of us here on FR have been calling the “Arab Spring” an inside AQ/MB job traitorously promoted by the Illegal and his accomplices, with the mindless help of a lot of so-called “conservatives,” including far too many of the Fox News Channel talking heads.

bttt

The significance of the Obama Administration admitting its involvement, somewhat exceeds its also admitting which side of “the Syrian opposition” that the Obama Administration is favoring.

re: “The Obama administration on Wednesday renounced the proclaimed leaders of the Syrian political opposition and said any group seeking to oust President Bashar al-Assad must reject attempts by extremists to “hijack” a legitimate revolution.”

Reactions to this statement:

- WAY too little, WAY too late.
- The Muslim jihadists laugh at Obama for his stupitidy - or, they are high-fiving with him for his active
support.
- Obama has truly made the U.S. into a joke in regard to
foreign policy. The world now knows that we won’t
protect our intelligence assets, our own embassy
personnel, we won’t stop Iran’s nuclear arms
developmentor North Korean weapons development -

The world now knows that Obama will sacrifice any American or any American interest if it is conducive or convenient to his ideology, or, at best, if it is simply inconvenient to him politically.

Bingo Bump to your post livius!!

From a Breitbart article on the subject:

“Sec. of State is now saying that those in charge of the opposition need to be replaced by people more representative of those who are doing the actual fighting.”

Weren’t we just reading a week or so ago in press accounts that radical Islamists and Al Qeda groups were indeed doing most of ‘the actual fighting’??

What a total mess these leftist clowns have made in the middle east!!

That is unexpected - not that Al Qaeda is leading the uprising but that we finally withdrew support.

Seriously, HOW many times does the government have to play factions with these people only to have them turn around and point the guns we gave them at US before they learn??

It's like watching Lucy hold the football for Charlie Brown, forcryinoutloud!

If the Ambassador supplied weapons to Al Qaeda in Syria, why would Al Qaeda in Libya want to kill him?.

This is my question and the $64,000 question that separates this story from a massive cover-up a questionable clandestine operation to cover-up of incompetence for election purposes.

Based on stories today, Obama (via Hillary) has now separated the US from Al-Qaeda back leaders in the Syrian Opposition. This is significant because this provides motive to the operatives in Libya to attack the consulate.

Although this news is almost 2 months after the attack, that does not mean this decision was just made... it was already made and delayed because of the attack.

Somehow though Russian sources, our operation became exposed. As I have posted, this is a drug deal gone bad. Obama pulls out of the arrangement, but a big problem exist, we have arms to be shipped to Syrian. So the Libyans attack the consulate primarily to capture the weapons surrendered to US Operation for shipment to Libya. We don't call in for help because it is a deal gone bad, i.e,. you don't call the cops because someone stole your drugs.

Everything posted can be backed except the idea weapons were on site. Even if weapons were not there, it does not mean the Libyans though that. (It maybe the weapons were delivered but the Libyans did not know that).

This is an attempt to mitigate the consequences of the Libyan-Syrian “fast and furious” program that got Amb. Stevens killed.

Thanks for posting that article. I think it is very important that we don’t forget this bit of the puzzle. Could also explain why stand down orders were given...wouldn’t want a bunch of chemical weapons going up in a toxic cloud of smoke.

*shudders*

“What a total mess these leftist clowns have made in the Middle East.”
That was their plan. They have buddies who make billions off of rebuilding Missle Eastern countries. Wake up people! The presidency and Secretary of State jobs and pensions don’t pay enough for “higher calling” people like Obama and Hillary. This was a big money making operation for them.
