The single most important issue in this election is ending the national nightmare of Obamacare.
If Obamacare if not stopped, it will permanently change the political culture of this country. There will be no going back. America will become a less productive, less wealthy nation. What wealth remains will have to be plowed into Obamacare -- to the delight only of the tens of thousands of government bureaucrats administering it.
There won't be one moment marking the end of America. Everything will just gradually get worse, like trains and the tax code, until a bustling, prosperous nation is as distant a memory as pleasurable train travel and one-page tax returns.
The reason we have Obamacare is not because the public was clamoring for the federal government to take over health care. It's because the Democrats had 60 senators. In the frozen ideology of the left, it doesn't matter if anyone wants government health care.
Democrats had been waiting around for 50 years to win huge majorities in the House and Senate and the presidency, sothey could check off this box on "FDR's Unfinished Business."
Unlike all other major legislation in the nation's history, Obamacare was passed exclusively by one party that had just won an aberrationally large majority in Congress. Not a single Republican in either the House or Senate voted for it.
Republicans have passed legislation on such partisan votes, too, but never something that would fundamentally change the lives of every living American. Nationalizing one-sixth of the economy is not thekind of thing that should be passed by one party sneering, "Ha, ha -- we have 60 votes!"

True dat!
I don't think he is a strong candidate, but he does appear to be the competent man for the moment, having demonstrated skills as a turn around artist for failing business, political and government organizations and enterprises.
He also appears to be a very decent human being in all of the roles he takes on in life, who does good things when no one is watching, who doesn't appear to have any skeletons in his closet, bodies buries or mistresses on the side. Refreshing.
I've known many Mormons throughout my life, all over the country, and all but Hairless Reed are high quality, high integrity people. If Romney wins, we might have a chance to pull together enough to get ourselves out of this death spiral.
She was right. I was wrong.
Well, Mitt could stymie one part of the burden of Obamacare, if he signs the 50 state waiver he promised.
What he can’t do is cancel the huge army of IRS staffers authorized in PPACA to enforce it. He will pay them to twiddle their thumbs, if they don’t get into bigger mischief. Unless either the Senate goes GOP and withstands a filibuster, or enough Rats have a change of heart.
The naughty things Mitt has done have all been in the open.
I know there are some real idiots out there but none worse than Obama.
I seem to remember n 2010 people running for the house saying they would defund obamacare. What happened?
Look what starts to happen around 2010, if Obama was elected.
Romney will have many weapons in his arsenal to dismantle and defund Obamacare.
But the process will be greatly simplified if we have 51 GOP senators. We must have the majority to get a reconciliation bill to the floor. If he remains as majority leader, Reid will NEVER agree to a reconciliation package that repeals Obamacare.
Our senate candidates in PA, Montana, Missouri, FL, Michigan need to make the point that the incumbent Dem senator cast the DECIDING vote for Obamacare.
A magical transformation to strict-constructionist conservatism is what the country needs, but there’s no chance of that until after the crunch. Romney is better than Obama, but only marginally.

Romney is who we are going to be forced to have now. Fixed. This ra-ra over a liberal Republican is so disgusting. Just vote for the jerk, but stop the overblown nonsense. He will disappoint WAY more than excite. Mark my words, all of you jumping up and down over Romney are going to be the same ones complaining in a very short time. I have voted for Romney already, but you don’t see me bragging about it. It was not a great election choice....yep even worse then 08, but we are stuck with this horrid person. Vote for Romney but stop the slobbering.
Really? You found McCain more palatable? Even though he managed to find time to insult conservatives daily?
Romney, at least, seems to respect us enough to give us lip service.
I liked that McCain was a veteran of 20 years. Plus he would have completed the wars instead of just leaving with nothing accomplished. Certainly there were some very negative things about McCain but at least he picked Palin. Now Ryan is good but where the heck is he???? lol.
A 20-yr veteran who:
1. Officially abandoned the POW/MIAs in Viet Nam.
2. Is seemingly anxious to involve us in every military skirmish around the globe. Bosnia, Kosovo, Libya, Syria.
3. And can't be trusted on any issue. E.g., campaign finance reform, comprehensive immigration reform...
I voted for him anyway, preferring Disaster to Catastrophe. Voting for Romney is easy.
The word can’t is not one I use. Those two can do men who were SEAL’s and died like SEAL’s,killed some 60-100.They did not buy-you can’t.
I would hope Romney mandates a lot of waivers for opting out of Obamacare, especially those that have recently gone through any disaster.
America will judge Romney immediately on just how far he attempts to remove Obamacare, frankly I think he will try to keep some of it because of the fact he started the whole idea, Obama just copied the idea tragically.
