Mittmentum: Newspapers Increasingly Dump Obama For Romney
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 10/30/2012 | IBD Staff

President Obama spent roughly half an hour last Tuesday on the phone with the Des Moines Register's publisher and editor, desperately trying to win the influential Iowa newspaper's endorsement for a second term.

"You'll feel better when you give it," Obama told them, after touting what he said were four years of accomplishments, along with promises of strong economic growth should he get four more years.

Three days later, the Register endorsed Mitt Romney — the first Republican the paper has backed in 40 years. [snip]

The Register isn't the only newspaper to abandon Obama this year after eagerly endorsing four years ago.

In fact, of those major metro dailies that have announced their picks, more than one in five that had previously backed Obama are now pushing Romney...

There are several observations that one can make. Newspapers realize their readers have generally lost trust in the newspaper. This could be an effort to show that they are trying to be true to the local readers. Second, the economy actually has become the one true issue that everyone is focused on. And third, they may have realized that the Obama team has just plain lost all of its steam and has little to offer in a second opportunity.

Newspapers depends on ads from businesses. Obama is killing American business. Editors may be a bit slow to pick up on this factoid but it looks like reality is settling in.

Obama did one good thing: He cured a lot of people of white guilt.

Florida Today, the local paper here in Brevard Co. FL (pop. 500,000), has also endorsed Romney. I’ve lived here 32 years and I don’t remember them ever endorsing a Republican before, though they may have endorsed Reagan’s second term.

This area is strong Romney anyway but it’s so out of character for Florida Today. Maybe they just realized they’d lose another big batch of subscribers to do such a bone-headed thing as to endorse Obama after his dismal job performance.

Benghazi-gate is showing up in a few local/area newspapers. If more join in, they could force the MSM/TV news to start covering it, too. That would be devastating for Obama, if such coverage hit later in the week or this coming weekend.

Did he really say this?? Why does reading this make me feel skeevy and creeped out?

Ugh. Obama has lost it.

Doesn’t this sound like the local lounge lizard desperately trying to score at closing time?

"You'll feel better when you give it," Obama told them, after touting what he said were four years of accomplishments, along with promises of strong economic growth should he get four more years.

Yuck. No wonder the Register threw its drink in his face and walked out with Romney…

Here in Broward I have seen signs for Romney 20 to 1 over Obama.

Newspapers that endorsed Obama in 2008, Romney in 2012 [list not comprehensive]

The Desmoines Register
The Daily Hareld (IL)
Naples Daily News (FL)
Florida Today,
Pensacola News Journal,
Quad City Times (Iowa, Ill.),
Los Angeles Daily News,
Fort Worth Star-Telegram,
Reno Gazette-Journal,
Orlando Sentinel,

I have a feel that, if Romney is declared winner on Nov 6, the business money on the side lines will flood the business market starting on Nov 7.

Great minds think alike! We actually posted it at the same second. :-)

Let's face it -- there's nothing more attractive to voters than a clearly desperate candidate. ;-)

Romney/Ryan need to be seen first thing this am in jeans, boots, dirty, helping Sandy victims. Doing something, unlike Obama, sitting in oval, watching the Weather Channel.

“You’ll feel better”

Typical liberal mentality. Do what makes YOU “feel better”. Not what needs to be done.

Better than what?

Better than the 54% of the people that are going to vote against me.
Better than the war mongering, racist Republicans
Better than the corrupt capitalists.

Also, a nice gesture would be for R&R to advocate donating to any of the many relief and aid orginations.

They do, however, want to NOT appear as obstructing recovery and rescue by having media appearances.

I had to chuckle while watching Fox&Friends this morning. They were interviewing NJ Governor Christie and asked him about ‘political’ implications of the storm and aftermath.

Christie cut them to the core, telling them politics, even presidential politics was his LEAST concern at present.

Desperate much? Yeeeesh. I think I need to shower after reading that. This guy is creepy.

I believe they are asking peple who attend their rally to bring supplies. I hear you about not wanting to appear political, won’t make national news, but local news, that is good.
