President Barack Obama signaled if he wins a second term he would appoint a Secretary of Business to oversee newly-consolidated government agencies, including the Small Business Administration, and predicted a war will break out within the Republican Party after the Nov. 6 election.
We should have one Secretary of Business, instead of nine different departments that are dealing with things like giving loans to SBA or helping companies with exports, Mr. Obama said in an interview that aired Monday on MSNBC. There should be a one-stop shop.
Mr. Obama blamed Congress for such consolidation not happening during his first term because lawmakers have been very protective about not giving up their jurisdiction over various pieces of government. But the president has done little to push the idea himself.

When Obama goes off on all the wonderful things he wants to do in the next four years I would like to see someone ask him these simple questions:
“Why didn’t you do some of these great things in the last four years?”
“Why should we believe these new promises when you didn’t keep most of the promises you made four yars ago?”
Wasn’t that Jethro Bodine’s job title in one of those episodes where he was attending the Frisbee Business College?
“POTUS is Secy of Business” is how Romney should respond.
Why not just name a Union Boss to be in Control of all Businesses (like Trumka) and be done with it?
Get a Natural Born Citizen in the White Hut ASAP......
(Jonah Goldberg's funny for once.)
Right, keep adding layer upon ineffective layer of crap. Great idea Obama, a bigger crap sandwich.
I agree with you, Bubba_Leroy.
The Zippy administration equates appointing Secretaries and commisions, and czars with actually accomplishing something. They are never equivalent. It is extremely rare when any of these appointments leads to a positive result. (If anybody knows of one, I’m eager to hear about it.)
I like that plan much better.
He governs best who governs least. (which says a lot about the current imposter in the WH.)
You think it’s hard to start a business now?
Unless you are an illegal alien, then it is no holds barred, maybe have to pay a little protection money, but it is much cheaper than taxes and following the laws.
He shouldn’t be telling Romney what to do. He had his chance.
Not a bad idea for a POTUS Trainee in his fourth year. BO is on the 12 year plan, to make management. When he’s about 60, he’ll be as good as Carter....
How about Secretary of Not Violating States’ Rights? Dang, might require active knowledge of the COTUS, and its an unpopular document in DC.
But consolidating under the Dept of Commerce would lead to efficiency cuts in staffing, whereas another huge bureaucracy as, admittedly, W created with DHS, is an opportunity for endless patronage hiring!
Go away.
Too bad the clueless, business-illiterate-dumbass won’t get a second term to implement stupid bull shit like “Secretary of Business.”
