Looks like I was wrong with the theory this would probably peter out.
That 937.5mb is the lowest reading of any storm on record.
Previous low was 940.0mb.

When they first modeled this storm last week, they showed it going out to sea.
937mb isn’t close to the worldwide record (Typhoon Tip, 870 mb), Atlantic Hurricane (Wilma, 882 mb) or the record for the US; It will end up setting the record for lowest pressure in New Jersey/Delaware, and probably Maryland and Pennsylvania.
The European ECMWF model, which is generally better than American ones, consistently showed Sandy hitting the US for quite some time.
Believe me, I’d rather you had been right! I just hope everybody can get through it... and that the GFS model gets its biases fixed.
