On Saturday afternoon a White House spokesman emphatically denied that President Obama had denied requests for help during the Benghazi attack. "Neither the president nor anyone in the White House denied any requests for assistance in Benghazi," wrote National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor in an email to Yahoo News.
That rebuttal follows a TV interview on Friday in which Obama avoided responding to a question about whether CIA operatives were told to "stand down" during the Benghazi attack.
KYLE CLARK, KUSA-TV, Denver: Were they denied requests for help during the attack?
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, we are finding out exactly what happened. I can tell you, as I've said over the last couple of months since this happened, the minute I found out what was happening, I gave three very clear directives. Number one, make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to. Number two, we're going to investigate exactly what happened so that it doesn't happen again. Number three, find out who did this so we can bring them to justice. And I guarantee you that everyone in the state department, our military, the CIA, you name it, had number one priority making sure that people were safe.
In a separate radio interview on Friday, Obama pushed back on Fox News allegations that he lied about the administration's response.
"I've always been straight with the American people," the president told Philadelphia radio host Michael Smerconish.
"What's true is that the intelligence was coming in and evolving as more information came up," Obama said, explaining why his administration's explanation had changed in the hours and days after the attack.
Read what they actually said. They did not DENY the requests, they simply IGNORED them.

CIA said not true. General Ham says not true.
Remember the fake indignation from Obama at the second debate? Puke worthy!
Back to Tehran?
My understanding from what the military folks here have said is that the default is set to the contingency plans. If Obama ignored the requests the answer would have been interpreted as “yes”. For the contingency plan to not be carried out, Obama had to specifically veto it.
Somebody please correct me if I’m misunderstanding this.
you just may have hit the nail square on the head!!!
Her apparent stupidity leads us all away from the obvious conclusion ~ that she was involved in this from the beginning ~ and might well have a boyfriend/girlfriend somewhere in the DOD chain of command who could side track everything and did so.
Don't let folks off the hook on this one just because they seem remarkably stupid.
Did Obama authorize the drones to go into Libyan airspace then, an hour after the initial reports?
Once the drones were there Obama wouldn’t be needed to authorize anything more, would he? If there was an armed drone already in Libyan airspace, and a marked target, who would deny the requests for air support? Would it be a standing order from Obama to not engage?
and now General Ham being replaced on his ship?~ Tangled web.... Oh I pray every day that this will open WIDE UP so that Obama, Hillary, Carney, Rice and Panetta won't have any more wiggle room!
The only one with the authority to mettle, block info, decide for the decider is Jarrett, but I remain highly suspect of Hillary with the power and independence she was negotiated by Bill to even come on board. She wasn’t all that eager until Bill brokered something, and it was more than a lousy 10 million payoff of her campaign debt.
After all Obama wasn’t all thst interested in foreign policy and power beyond smiley faces with Arabs. She and Bill thrive on global power.
“Panetta ... and top military commanders had judged it too dangerous to send troops to the eastern Libyan city without a clearer picture of events on the ground.”
Isn’t that an admission that they were involved in the decision not to send help?
I don’t think they could finalize that without Bam’s okay.
Whether he ordered it or someone else did, the fact remains that the response was utterly incompetent and with an election in less than 2 weeks I would think he would be most interested in getting the word out on who did deny the requests, not avoiding questions on the matter.
COL. HUNT, and others I can't remember. Ty Woods father and siblings, Ann Coulter & Pat Caddell.
Jennine was as furious as we are, Col Hunt called Obama a Coward. Pat Caddell nearly in tears at how the MSN's are handling this.
Go set your recorders, DON'T MISS THIS.
Who's "we" and why don't you already know, "PRESIDENT" Obama?! Where were you that afternoon? Or can't you remember that either?
I don’t believe you Obama. Not one f***in’ word. You’re not worthy of the honorific “President”. You are a disgrace.
BINGO df!!!!
That’s correct, UNLESS there are specific steps in the Rules of Engagement requiring clearances to proceed as inputs.
Let’s see. Bush did it. The Republicans cut off funding. 0bama was never told until it was over. 0bama just said nothing.
0bama did tell the Denver reporter that when he first found out, he did three things- order forces to ‘secure’ all personnel, demand an investigation, and bring those responsible for the attack to justice. If, after first finding out, why would he ask for an investigation, during an action in progress, unless he first found out after the fight was over? But, if he ordered forces to secure the personnel, they still must have been alive. His statements are inconsistent because his answers reflect actions taken at different times. He has been caught in a lie.
It does seem like Panetta can’t have it both ways.
He wasn’t asked but he decided not to? Was he channeling Bill Clinton?
