Hurricane Sandy [Current Official Track has Hurricane Hitting Delaware]
National Hurricane Center ^ | 10/26/12

Posted on 10/26/2012 12:15:00 PM PDT by SoFloFreeper

About this product:

This graphic shows an approximate representation of coastal areas under a hurricane warning (red), hurricane watch (pink), tropical storm warning (blue) and tropical storm watch (yellow). The orange circle indicates the current position of the center of the tropical cyclone. The black line, when selected, and dots show the National Hurricane Center (NHC) forecast track of the center at the times indicated. The dot indicating the forecast center location will be black if the cyclone is forecast to be tropical and will be white with a black outline if the cyclone is forecast to be extratropical. If only an L is displayed, then the system is forecast to be a remnant low. The letter inside the dot indicates the NHC's forecast intensity for that time:

D: Tropical Depression – wind speed less than 39 MPH
S: Tropical Storm – wind speed between 39 MPH and 73 MPH
H: Hurricane – wind speed between 74 MPH and 110 MPH
M: Major Hurricane – wind speed greater than 110 MPH

NHC tropical cyclone forecast tracks can be in error. This forecast uncertainty is conveyed by the track forecast "cone", the solid white and stippled white areas in the graphic. The solid white area depicts the track forecast uncertainty for days 1-3 of the forecast, while the stippled area depicts the uncertainty on days 4-5. Historical data indicate that the entire 5-day path of the center of the tropical cyclone will remain within the cone about 60-70% of the time. To form the cone, a set of imaginary circles are placed along the forecast track at the 12, 24, 36, 48, 72, 96, and 120 h positions, where the size of each circle is set so that it encloses 67% of the previous five years official forecast errors. The cone is then formed by smoothly connecting the area swept out by the set of circles.

Who will be hit hardest?
Women, children, and minorities, of course.

Oh, btw.....it's Bush's fault.

I’ll do that but if I were in the path of this storm, I’d move my family inland a bit. The weather guys, who always exagerate these things, are saying it could be without precedent. Pray and pack a few things and be ready to roll.

While it would be nice if that happens — I’m not taking that bet.

There’s only 9 miles between me and both the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

Somehow the image of Sponge Bob's squirrel friend Sandy, when she's unexpectedly woken up during hibernation, comes to mind.

I’m about 25 miles east of Pittsburgh...I am an admitted weather geek (follow some meteorologist types on FB) and I have been talking about this for the last several days w/family (they are used to my prognostications) and friends....but, local Pittsburgh media is JUST starting to pick up on the storm possibility...hello!?!

Where I live we lose power. Alot. Usually just for a few hours, but we have gone days (the longest was 5) w/o electric. And yet, because of the warm front (it’s 76 right now!) people are NOT heeding a 25 degree drop tomorrow; and another 10 plus degrees lower Sunday...and

Alot of people around my neck of SW PA are NOT taking the threat seriously! Our trees are still HEAVY with leaves...not a good scenario at all.

All of Cape May county is under mandatory evacuation as of Sunday. I live 90 miles NW of Wildwood N.J. and am currently directly in the path of this storm. Hopefully, the land will slow it down. Best of luck to your daughter!

It just might. Fair storm news. Latest update now has half of the the models showing the storm heading further Northeast, then turning almost straight north to Nova Scotia.

Serious overbite on the woman holding the baby. Bet that makes the girl to the right of her in the photo her daughter, too.

Agree.

And notice these forecasts and data are from NOAA , a government agency under the Obama criminal. They are faking data to get Benghazi off the news. They are saying that this will be the storm of the century. all lies. This is not even a hurricane. Funny how now Sandy has been at exactly 75 mile per hour winds for so long: this is so they can call it a hurricane. if it were 73 then it would be a tropical storm but there is no way this crap would stay at 75 all this time. they change all the time.

It looks like you won’t have to worry about snow. But you can still expect a fair number of power outages.

Good luck to you and your neighbors! Anoreth and her dog arrived here (Charlotte, NC) around 4:00 this morning. They’ll call when they want her back.

Thank you, and stay low! My mother is from Philadelphia, and we’ve made quite a few visits to the Jersey Shore. Great Italian food in the Wildwoods ...

My cousins have vacation rental prpperties in Ocean City and Atlantic City. I’ll bet they’re out now nailing up shutters.
