There is much more to intelligence than math ability.

I know some brilliant people that have no clue about mathematics. Never base an estimate of intelligence solely on math ability. (Carter was a nuclear engineer)

That said, Obama is an idiot.

Almost anybody can learn math if they need or want to. Really great books/teachers can make it easy.

Bar none the best Calculus text is “Calculus Made Easy” by Thompson and Gardner. published in 1910

Math is a subject where your ability to advance depends entirely on how well you understand your fundamentals. You cannot just jump in the deep end and expect to swim. You start at the very beginning and work step by step.
