TMZ spoke with multiple people in the bayonet industry who tell us they were shocked and even offended when Obama brought up the weapon during last night's debate.
According to the official U.S. Marine Corps website, every Marine is STILL required to complete a bayonet training program ... because "the weapon becomes just as effective [as a rifle] in close combat situations."

I would wager that we easily have more Bayonets within our military right now than we did back in 1914, or whatever the year in question was.
You would win the wager: in 1916 we had a total of about 140,000 men under arms (including cavalrymen who would have had sabres, rather than bayonets), while now the Marine Corps which still issues bayonets as close melee weapons has 203,000 active duty and 40,000 reservists.
Surprise! 0bama is a dumb ass, but we already knew that. His followers are even more stupid.
Well done!
However - My son, an Army Infantry Grunt in Afghanistan says that if the enemy gets closer than 100 yds., you are in very deep trouble.
Amen.
FUBO.
What a pathetic idiot we have in control of the most powerful armed forces in the history of the planet.
Hey, he sees bayonets everyday on the Marines who guard him, right?
Here’s something else that is in high demand among those deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Of course its something else Barack Hussein wouldn’t understand. Read the interesting statement found on the manufacturers webpage below:
RMJ Tactical’s first priority is to provide tomahawks to our military personnel as soon as possible. If one of our tomahawks can aid one soldier to come home safe and whole, our company mission has been achieved. If you are a civilian and have an order with us or are planning to place an order, please understand that currently there is a wait and if we receive more orders from military personnel, your wait time may even increase. Thanks for your patience.

I read that the Russian special forces train close combat with trenching tools.
Hopefully they are irritated and offended enough to get their message out to the public.

BAYONET TRAINING (See Sidebar)
Charge with lethal precision
A bayonet is a removable fighting knife that attaches to the muzzle of a rifle barrel. In close combat situations where a rifle cannot be fired, the bayonet is an indispensible, lethal weapon. Learning how to effectively use a bayonet is an important part of Marine Corps training.
On the bayonet assault course, recruits learn to attach and detach the bayonet from the rifle quickly and to engage targets aggressively. They become masters of offensive and defensive fighting techniques.
