By Mr. Curmudgeon:
We can all breathe a sigh of relief. 150 observers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), a United Nations-affiliated elections watchdog, will be on hand this November 6 to assure America's presidential balloting is fair and clean.
Just in case you were wondering, no, they won't be monitoring Chicago's electoral corruption - where eager souls vote early and often, or that rise from the dead just for the occasion.
According to The Hill, the NAACP, ACLU and the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights approached the OSCE to express their concern that Republicans were engaging in "efforts to suppress minority voters likely to vote for President Obama," said The Hill.
I have no doubt that many reading this column are doubling their blood pressure meds to keep their heads from exploding. I, on the other hand, am smiling ear to ear.
It's clear the organized left sees President Obama's presumed slam-dunk re-election as a lost cause. They are now groping for any excuse to declare the upcoming Mitt Romney administration illegitimate.
According to Mark Karlin, editor at the lefty website Buzzflash, "... Voter fraud at the polls is statistically almost non-existent in the United States. However, the Republicans, through such surrogates as the Tea Party-leaning 'True the Vote' and laws inhibiting the most basic right of democracy - voting - have created an illusionary perception of hordes of illegal voters ... It is appropriate that the United Nations monitor US elections, despite its small contingent. After all, the Republican Party is conducting a war on democracy. What we are seeing is an effort to create a de facto apartheid system of casting ballots for our government."
However, before we get lost in the weeds over UN bureaucrats observing American elections, here's an excerpt from the OSCE report on the 2010 midterm elections (a.k.a., the "Shellacking"):
"The emergence of the Tea Party in the US political scene featured prominently during the campaign. The Tea Party is composed of groups of different sizes, objectives and levels of organization, unified by the idea to make a joint conservative front against politics in Washington. The Tea Party received strong support from influential conservative think tanks and publicists [FreedomWorks and Glenn Beck]. The efforts of the movement were not always welcomed by the Republican Party establishment, which had concerns that overly conservative candidates would not attract sufficient support from moderate voters to win their races."
I don't know about you, but that UN report was more evenhanded than anything that appeared in the New York Times or on any of the major television networks. And the outcome of the 2010 midterms gave Republicans "the largest legislative landslide in U.S. history," says Joe Scarborough in his Monday column at POLITICO.
That seismic victorydestroyed theabsurd GOP establishment argument that Tea Party candidates were too "extreme" - just ask Indiana's Sen. Dick Lugar.
The left is angry, of course, at new state laws requiring voters to provide identification before entering the voting booth. If, as Buzzflash's Mark Karlin insists, voter fraud is "statistically almost non-existent in the United States," there is one way to find out ... let's see some ID.
After all, the very UN election observers searching for Republican "voter suppression" were required to present photo identification (a passport) before entering the U.S. I'm sure they are even required to present photo identification before entering UN headquarters in New York.
That's the least we should require of those that would elect the next President of the United States.
Article shared using the Free Republish tool on Tea Party Tribune.
Didn’t the newest letter telling voters in FL that they had to prove citizenship only go out to Republicans? That certainly sounds like a Democrat dirty trick to me. They always accuse Republicans of the stuff they are actually doing themselves.
I’m afraid we’re gonna soon regret not throwing these meddling third world leftists out of NY years ago.
Send the UN to Philly to deal with Hussein’s goons.
Voting only once is racist.
The same creeps who “managed” the Oil For Food program, which turned out to be a the largest criminal money laundering operation in history at the time. And yet almost a decade later, no one has lost so much as a reserved parking space over it.
Paint their fingers purple.
Now that's funny!
These are the “people” who support SLAVERY,
ISLAMIC TERROR, and FOOD4CHILDsex.
They deserve to be indicted when they arrive.
The entire West screwed itself when it signed mebership in the UN right after WWII as the result of the White Man’s guilt complex.
Isn’t this what the New Black Panther party and the union thugs do for the democrats???
These intruders need to go now. This is offensive that they are here at all, that they are examining only one party, this is very very bad and must be nipped in the bud. This is the world order type intrusion undermining our sovereignty.
UN GET THE HELL OUT
See tag line
don’t want to show id... ok
1) eliminate early voting
2) dip your finger in the ink...
that should do it
I think the critical question here is who will watch the watchers? That is, these mugs are likely not coming here to look for invisible ‘voter suppression’, but to *provide cover* for cheating at the polls.
Think Jimmy Carter “certifying” that the Nicaraguan and Venezuelan elections were honest. He gave illegitimate, cheating governments cover by “not seeing” voter fraud against their opponents.
Agree 100%. This is one of those situations where we need to remove the cancer it before it gains a foot hold. First come the “advisers”, then the “peace keepers”. Vietnam ring a bell? This simply cannot stand.
A UN report claiming “voter suppression” will be the bloody shirt the Libs wave around for the next ten years after Obummer loses.
I hate to post twice in rapid succession on the same topic, but I’m not sure people understand what a dangerous development this is. First they send in their scouts, armed only with clipboards to accustom the locals to their presence. It’s their beachhead landing.
the implication is that the USA, with 44 presidential elections over the past 200+ years, is just a banana republic
like all the nations whose “observers” are coming here under UN auspices to monitor the “TEA” party
It is abominable that the US should be viewed as “subject” to this communist oversight.
US IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE SUBJECT TO THE STINKING UN
